Hotel Odisej

Just come back from a very relaxing, much needed break on Mljet, staying in the Hotel Odisej. A hotel with very mixed reviews. My experience was very good. The rooms, although requiring a bit of touching up, were very comfortable, clean, quiet and cool. The bathroom was fine, although the shower perhaps needs opening up a bit. I'm a biggish guy, but someone even half my size may have struggled getting in and out. Great pressure and temperature though. There is very good air con in the rooms, TV and fridge. But the fridge isn't stocked. A complimentary bottle of water would have been a welcome addition. The food in the hotel is good, varied and replenished constantly. It is buffet style and can be a bit of a free-for-all, but if you come a bit later things do calm down. As with most places on the Euro, drinks and food can be expensive, but it is a holiday so just enjoy. Mljet itself is small and to an active family/group especially with kids might seem a bit quiet. But there's plenty to do if you put your mind to it. The lakes are breathtaking! The summer season hadn't officially started so a few things, day trips/boat trips etc weren't running as yet. And the shop in Pomena is not open. Don't know if it will anytime soon. So if you're renting, the nearest shop is Polace. Definitely recommend Mljet and the hotel. Better suited to older children and adults who prefer a quieter, more sedate holiday.

This was our sixth visit to Hotel Odisej, and we were not disappointed. For us the peace, beautiful scenery, swimming and snorkelling on the island is perfect. We have always found the hotel to be very clean, the rooms comfortable and although it may perhaps be considered a bit 'dated' nowadays in comparison to 'boutique' hotels, it has its own character that we really enjoy and appreciate. The staff are always very friendly yet efficient, and go out of their way to make our stay so pleasurable. We are already looking forward to our seventh visit!

This was by far the plainest of the 6 hotels we stayed in on the holiday.However , we were staying 2 nights bed & breakfast , & it was comfortable enough for this although the room was a little tired it was clean , & the glorious view & very comfortable beds redressed the balance sheet favourably. We also enjoyed the seaside bar area which was super to swim off. The reception team were very welcoming too.We bought our National Park ticket vouchers from them : this is a stunning place to explore , particularly at this end of the season : I cannot recommend this enough .The Odisej is an entirely satisfactory ( to us anyway) base for this exquisite island.Positioned right by the Ferry stop too.

So grateful we were able to get upgraded to a sea view room, as with a foot sprain couldn’t go far from hotel. Five star response. Beautiful location, lovely views, some great restaurants nearby - also worth 5. Room was basic however but lovely view. Bed comfortable with good linen. Bathroom is awful and shower is very small and quite tricky to get in/out. We are small but still tight space. No shelf in shower for your own products, water temp varies. No kettle in room - missed coffee dreadfully. Breakfast was just ok. Shame you can’t get an espresso with your breakfast. Selection is a little more limited than some hotels (we missed fresh tomatoes one day) but bread and croissants abundant Never seen so many guests sneaking food out & cutting masses of bread to make sandwiches to take away This is 5 for location and 4 for reception staff but room is basic and shower and breakfast are not as good as in a good 3 star hotel. But for two nights it’s comfortable.

Set in the most tranquil place to relax. We have spent two weeks here. But if you stay it probably be best to stay for a week or few days. The hotel itself is amazing. Room was cleaned everyday and clean towels, shower gel filled and hand wash filled. Air con is always on which was a big bonus for us, but noisy but can’t complain as it was free and permanently on. The shower cubicle is slightly small, did knock myself a few times and I’m not that large either, but good water flow and temperature. We did struggle to get a sun bed by the sea as people get up early and reserve their beds, which is a bit unfair on others, some sun beds were left for hours. But this should be monitored. But if you’re lucky to get a bed, the views are amazing. The sea is crystal clear. Within the hotel you have a variety of different foods in morning and evening. The national park is a must see and you can purchase tickets 25 euro for adults and 8 euro for children under 12 at reception, but these tickets can be used throughout your stay. The ferry system is restricted. We went to Dubrovnik twice during our stay. We purchase the ferry tickets from reception. The ferry comes in at 11:05 and takes about 1 hr 30 to Dubrovnik. If you want to sight see your time is limited as you will only have 2 hrs. If you’re not a fan on wasps, there is lots of them. My 12 yr old son was freaked out at first but got use to them. The pizzas in the pizzeria are a must have. The beach bar is a lovely bar and staff are helpful and service is good. All staff work hard throughout the hotel and beach bar. Staff never stop throughout the day and evening. Only thing is be careful, we went to the local shop on the island and the prices displayed are totally different price at the till. Internet isn’t the greatest but you can access in certain parts of the hotel and beach bar. But we found it a god send as we enjoyed the views around us instead. Also at the end of your stay there is a fee of tourist tax, each country we have travelled to you pay this at the beginning, but in hotel Odisej you pay when you leave. We would definitely come and visit again. Thank you for a lovely, relaxing stay.

Hotel a little dated, but once you see the surrounding National park, beach bar and spa this becomes irrelevant. Room small and basic, sea view balcony small but with a view to die for. Food fresh, varied, simple local cuisine. Beach bar really chilled with excellent cocktails. Nice vibe in the evening once the yachts line up outside the local bars. Access to other island by boat. Long transfer time from Dubrovnik but well worth the effort. This is the only hotel on the island and is worth staying to enjoy the National park with its extraordinary seawater lakes and coves.
