Occidental Jandía Royal Level - Adults Only

We’re back, just a couple of days, from our latest visit to this excellent hotel, our 3rd in 12 months. Again we were impressed by the food, cleanliness and above all the excellence, kindness and efficiency of all the staff, from reception through housekeeping to the restaurant Atlantico and Bar Verde. I would like in particular to mention in particular the indefatigable Daniel and the excellent Elena in the restaurant. Daniel’s interest in ensuring that all your needs are met is second to none, he even helped resolve an issue with a drip from the air conditioning vent in the bathroom ceiling of our suite. Elena’s always smiling face and unerring anticipation of requirements for coffee and water at breakfast and lunch brightened our day. The staff in Bar Verde were also vital to our enjoyment of a few cocktails at the end of the evening. I look forward to returning to this lovely hotel and its stunning views, soon!

Absolutely shocking hotel,one of the worst iv stayed at! Don’t be fooled by the 4.2 rating or the pictures on there site. Not one staff member was helpful unless your Spanish.The staff treat the Spanish completely different to us English. if you ask for any kind of help they look at you in disgust, also trying to get a drink in a all inclusive bar is a no no.they just act like they don’t know what your saying yet they speak very fluent English.horrible attitude on them. Went down to the pool to get a seat at 630am everyday as by 7-8am latest they are all gone. Rule states 30 mins non attendance your towel will be removed yet we wasn’t even 20 mins come back and our beds are taken and given to Spanish people.i literally watched the pool guy take 6 English people’s seats and give them to Spanish people.Shame on you’s! the staff saying we was over a hour..we only went to the toilet absolute joke of a hotel. No where near enough pool seats for the amount of people here!!! two people on reception.states WiFi yet this didn’t work one day,this hotel is a joke. 4 stars? More like 1-2 at a push! Card for my room stopped working every day then when I went down to ask for a new one to get told to stand in line while they do check ins first,baring in mind this took them 10seconds to re scan the code to it. one day waited 50 mins locked out my room while they sorted every other person out first. Rooms very very dated,broken tiles everywhere lights hanging by just the cable(not safe at all)! This hotel needs reviewing by a professional.the health and safety is non existent it’s absolutely shocking this place should not allow kids to stay here with how unsafe it is sellotape on the floor covering cracks tiles! I wouldn’t stay here again if they gave me it for free! The place is shocking! AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS! Iv never written a bad review to this extent but this hotel needs it for there such bad customer service and how they talk to you is appalling this was like one of those holidays from hell!

The Royal Level adults-only section is clean and sufficiently exclusive. The cocktail bar is very good and the barmen really do know how to mix a cocktail from a reasonably large selection. Full marks. A reasonable choice of branded spirits and beer is included in the AI package, which makes a change. Well done Occidental for this. The Royal Level restaurant is clean, nicely laid out, staff are superb, engaging and always cheerful. Top marks! The food is, perhaps, a little repetitive (a variation in the salad would be nice) although the main dishes are not as varied as the adjoining main hotel’s buffet, but the choice is still sufficient. House wine is like most hotel house wine - just ok. Prosecco is lovely, the rosé very drinkable, red is pleasant but the white will remove your fillings. 3/4 ain’t bad. Bedrooms are big, airy, air conditioning is excellent, massive super king size bed, comfy pillows and comfy mattress (but it has a waterproof undersheet which makes you sweaty). Bathroom is spacious with a full bath tub (not big enough for two, however ) and two shower heads. WiFi in the room was good but out in the pool area it would not connect properly. Pools are great and the large bubble pool is heated. Well done for this! Sun beds have proper, comfortable cushions which the staff wipe down each day. The pool area faces south-east which means you get the morning sun but by 5pm the sun has gone behind the hotel and the pool area is in shade. Cabanas are ok but you can’t fully sit up, consequently most people bag a cabana and two adjacent sun beds. Greedy. Bed hogging wasn’t too bad in early May but in peak season you’d need to be out by 8am. The bar staff occasionally walk round with cocktails or iced drinks. A nice touch. But - and this is a big BUT - the piped music around the pool and in the restaurant is excruciatingly tedious! Guests should start a GoFundMe to buy another CD because it sounds like the hotel can only afford one CD, and it’s on continuous repeat, every hour, every day, every week….. If I hear DredStudio’s “Spanish Guitar Themes” ever again I will return in the afterlife to haunt the hotel management until judgement day. Many complaints but no action. For goodness sake, Barcelo and Occidental, put some effort into your playlist! It’s not difficult. To be subjected to the same 10 “jolly rhumba guitar tracks” over and over again whilst relaxing by the pool is pure water torture (which, I should remind you, is banned by the UN as a cruel and unusual punishment, but apparently not at the Occidental Jandia Royal Level). Apart from that, we’d happily come back again, this one of the nicest all inclusive Adult only resorts we’ve visited (good attention to detail, clean, great staff) … but only if the music has changed. Nearly 5 stars.

Just got back from Royal Level. We checked in online using Barceó app which made it teally quick and easy on arrival. Booked deluxe suite with sea view. It was amazing large room with lots of space for clothes. Bathroom was brilliant with shower and whirlpool bath. Room was cleaned daily unless we said not to. Mini bar topped up daily. Royal level had two pools and a jacuzzi. Had to be up for breakfast if you wanted a lounger. Bar near pools so no need to go far. Meals were in Atlantico restaurant was varied and we always found something we liked. You can use normal restaurant if you wanted but we never did. We had a meal in Patio Canario restaurante which was excellant as well. Bar Verde was best place for a cocktail and very relaxing for after dinner drinks. Overall view of hotel. Will agree with other reviews as to some parts needing work. But this is on going as we could see whilst there. So not really a big issue. All the staff in the royal level from check in, restaurants, cleaners and bar staff were all freindly and do an excellant job. They are all a credit to the hotel. Would we go back. Most certainly.

Nice place to stay but still lot to do. Royal stay not worthy, should be more perks for value of monay. Cleanles average. Rooms noisy.
