Locanda Il Gallo ★★★

📍 Via Lando Conti, 16, Greve in Chianti

"We came across this restaurant very last minute and managed to get a booking on a Sunday evening. The host was extremely welcoming and his knowledge of everything from the different wines to pair with the different foods to the meats they served was just fabulous! He couldn’t do enough for us and made sure we were enjoying our evening. I had the veal which was beautifully cooked and the rest of the family massively enjoyed the duck in orange sauce. Highly recommend this place! We will be retuning for sure! Thank you for your hospitality!"

"This is an incredible boutique hotel that offers unbeatable value. The staff is amazing and provides top-notch service throughout the property. We loved the food, from the fantastic breakfast to the dinner at their lovely little on-site restaurant. To top it all off, the hotel is surrounded by breathtaking views and fantastic wineries in every direction. Highly recommended."

Villa le Barone ★★★★

📍 Località San Leolino, 19, Greve in Chianti

"This was our third visit to Villa Le Barone and we are already looking forward to planning the next one. When we were planning this trip to a number of places in Europe, this was where we wanted to spend our 40th anniversary. The Villa is beautiful, and our room was spacious and comfortable. The location was perfect for us - in a small village in the middle of Tuscany between Florence and Siena. The staff is incredibly helpful - from making the reservation to scheduling wine tours, to assisting us with other advice about the area. The onsite restaurant is top notch. We learned during our first visit that while you can certainly find great food in other places, you just can't go wrong having dinner at Villa Le Barone every night. And the icing on the cake is the wonderful owners - we so enjoyed visiting with the Count and Countess, and appreciate their hospitality. We have vacationed in many places, and Villa Le Barone is the only place that we have returned to multiple times."

Albergo Giovanni Da Verrazzano
8.1 (19 reviews)

Albergo Giovanni Da Verrazzano ★★★

📍 Piazza Giacomo Matteotti, 28, Greve in Chianti

"Unless you can guarantee that you will have a room that does not face the square, avoid this stay. This hotel should not ever book the rooms facing the square. My husband and I were given a twin bed room facing the square. We thought staying in the town square would be charming, but it ended up being a horrible choice because it was noisy all day and night. There is no AC, which is fine, but that meant our windows always had to be open. Our windows overlooked restaurants that had patrons lingering (and talking loudly) well past 11pm. We got to hear all the restaurants clean up with dishes banging after that. On Friday night of our stay, there was a DJ until midnight in the town square. It was LOUD in our room. On Saturday morning starting at 5:30am, we were greeted by people starting to set up for a festival in the square. Don’t forget the bell that tolls every hour until midnight. There was no peace and quiet to be had. Sleep was terrible. I will say the staff was apologetic and kind and I wished we had been given a better room so I did not have to write this. This experience was a very low point in our honeymoon and I was sad, stressed and disappointed by it. The best part of this hotel was the relief we felt when our two nights was over."

La Pensione di Vignamaggio ★★★

📍 Piazza Gastone Bucciarelli, 5, Greve in Chianti

"The location of Panzano in the heart of Chianti is ideal for trips to Siena, Florence, Montepulgiano, Val d'Ortia, etc. The picturesque town has a clear infrastructure with good, traditional cuisine in restaurants. The lavish, modern pension is an excellent, consistent alternative to 3-4* hotels: Concentration on the infrastructure of the house with a view of the landscape: Large, outdoor garden in an olive grove with a well-kept pool. Breakfast or relaxation under the 3 centuries-old trees. See photos. The quality of the breakfast is excellent! The alternative to mediocre "buffets" and because sustainable dishes are freshly and individually prepared by an experienced team, there is no "food waste". The four photos show the quality: Even in the business lounge of a 6* hotel in Dubai, scrambled eggs and fried eggs were offered so exquisitely and freshly! The staff are, without exception, very helpful and professional. The Vignamaggio organization is considered a major producer of organic grains and sustainable olive oil and quality wines."

Terre di Baccio

Terre di Baccio ★★★★

📍 Località Case Sparse, 10, Greve in Chianti

"I can’t say enough amazing things about this place! Best experience, staff and getaway. When you arrive, you immediately feel at peace at this beautiful resort. A perfect getaway that heals the soul. The staff was the best we’ve ever experienced - Marco, Ines, Daniela, Sabrina, just to name a few. They all went above and beyond to make our experience memorable, helping us with anything we needed and providing us with lots of laughs. They were very gracious, helpful, and giving. The wine tasting with Ines was a highlight. We spent hours chatting with her, enjoying delicious wine, cheese, bread and olive oil. She was absolutely amazing and we had a lot of fun. And bought wine to take home! The room was spacious and homey, with our own living room and kitchen to enjoy to ourselves. The restaurant provided delicious meals and nightly entertainment from Marco on the piano, creating a perfect and romantic ambience. An experience we will never forget and we will certainly be back!"

"Five-star hotel standard, but feels more like home. Breakfast is healthy and delicious, the front desk staff are friendly and caring, the chefs provide patient service every day, the rooms are large, comfortable and clean, elegantly decorated, and the view from the window is unbeatable. Hiking and exercising nearby is also a good option."

Villa le Barone ★★★★
"This was our 11th visit to Villa le Barone in Panzano. We found this gem of a hotel in 2006 and love coming back. Corso and Jacqueline are the hosts and owners, and along with all of the staff make this a special place. The location is amazing with beautiful views of the vineyards and olive groves that surround Panzano. The rooms are delightful, and no two are the same. We rarely eat out for dinner as the restaurant serves amazing food, and the vino selection is all from local vineyards. If you want a base for exploring Tuscany, which offers comfort and relaxation, along with amazing hospitality, this is it. Thank you, Jacqueline, Corso, and your staff for another memorable visit. We will return for no.12, Grazie Mille!"

La Pensione di Vignamaggio ★★★
"Stay here. The rooms are large, clean, comfortable, and cool. The grounds are absolutely breath-taking - take a book or three and sit on the patio overlooking the Tuscan countryside or the pool area surrounded in lavender and rosemary. Fill your glass with local wine from the wine machine. This is a beautiful charming place to unwind after tasting. But... request a room overlooking the grounds (back) and not the town square - it is noisy every single night of the week until well after midnight. The shutters on the windows certainly help, but we still needed earplugs."

"I found it to be a lovely, and quiet place. Everyone I came across from the staff were beyond friendly and helpful. Hands down one of the best complimentary breakfast spread I’ve ever had. They have a very cool feature having the livestock around the property. I loved visiting all of the animals every morning. There is a private path to get to the center. One of the better experiences we had in Italy."

Albergo Casa Al Sole ★★★
"The Albergo proved to be an excellent base for a couple of days walking in the area. We were warmly welcomed by the owners in the mid-morning and shown to a lovely large room with a comfortable four poster bed, ample bathroom and a super balcony. A clean, straightforward and unpretentious hotel to which we'd happily return if we're in Greve again."
