Three of us had a Sunday roast there in the evening and we all chose the roast beef.. The portions were generous and could not be faulted. Th service was prompt and all the staff were friendly. It is a lively pub and seemed to be very popular with the locals, who were friendly too. Now I have discovered the place I will definitely be going again when I am up here next. I highly recommend it.

We loved this place! Who would have thought that this place existed in the middle of nowhere. Food was amazing, staff super friendly and I had an amazing birthday Sunday lunch. Book in advance for dinner is the best advise. Worth staying in the village just for the Boot and Shoe which really made our short stay to this lovely hamlet.

Staying at Blencowe Hall for the weekend we visited the Boot and Shoe on Sunday afternoon, great live music from Squeeze Box, had us all up dancing in our walking boots! Good food afterwards for our large family and friends group of 22 good food and service, can definitely recommend.

We were staying locally at the Thanet Wells retreat lodges and wanted to explore the surrounding area. Came across the place and met with very friendly staff and had an excellent Sunday lunch. Booked at short notice online and would definitely recommend it to anyone. Excellent choice of real ales. I had the lamb which was the most I'd every been served and my wife had the chicken. Nothing could be faulted.

Arrived excitedly to the packed pub having pre booked looking up the menu in advance and having seen how lovely the Sunday roasts were. Upon arrival there was no mention of Sunday roast on the menu cards on the table, double checked with the waiter who told me ‘no, no roasts’ so we ordered only to finish our meal and see two tables next to us go on to order and eat roast dinners?! Is it because we were not from the area? Such as shame as the food we did have was really lovely. Delicious, nicely presented and generous portions so not your typical pub rubbish. A drink was then forgotten until chased, and then when we finally got the bill we had been charged for an extra two drinks, so it really just seemed to go downhill as the night went on..the young lad who dealt with the feedback and had to rectify the problems was really helpful and apologetic and I couldn’t fault him enough, the chap who took the order initially didn’t seem to care and was heard denying the conversation we had when the other waiter mentioned it to him. I’m sure usually this is a very good pub but it did spoil the evening because we had such high hopes all day about visiting.

Lovely range of specials to complement the standard menu - we enjoyed a really good dinner here with excellent and friendly service. Can definitely recommend. I had been before in the Summer and enjoyed sitting outside but it was equally welcoming and warm in Winter.

Just had the loveliest heartiest lunch today, on a cold drizzly day when my partner was feeling under the weather with a cold I’d given her. We rang ahead, and had the cosiest seats by the real fire waiting for us. Fab menu, and we loved the sandwiches we had Our Labrador was made a real fuss of, and the Chef even came out with proper ham for him Superb friendly service
