The location is fantastic, just a few hundred meters from Xicun subway station. The hotel is nestled within an old residential area and market, with tons of delicious food right downstairs. Trust me, when you're in Guangzhou, skip the overrated and overpriced places recommended online; the food around these residential buildings is more than enough. The Deji dessert shop downstairs might look unassuming, but it's incredibly tasty and cheap. In the evenings, an old grandpa sells BBQ downstairs, and his freshly grilled pork intestines and pork belly are amazing. The roasted pigeon sold at the restaurant downstairs is also excellent; I even packed several to take away.
The hotel itself is small but cozy. Every time I passed the front desk, the staff would greet me warmly. The room was fully equipped, surprisingly even having a washing machine and an induction cooker – amazing value for money! Plus, it was incredibly soundproof; I couldn't hear the municipal construction outside or the heavy rain at all. The only minor drawback was that the showerhead was old, a bit loose, and couldn't be adjusted. But this small flaw doesn't detract from the hotel's overall value. All in all, I'll definitely stay here again next time!
