The hotel has a charming, retro vibe with unique decor and warm service. However, the bathtub water wasn't very clean and had some debris in it. The sea view is absolutely unbeatable, but the hot springs were really just average. For the price, I don't feel it was worth it.

The ryokan is very old - and it's the charm! Staffs were kind and professional. The dinner and breakfast were delicious with ingredients from Hokkaido. The room is dated but very clean. I could spend all day looking out at the ocean from the window or from the tub in the public bath! Very beautiful and authentic - highly recommend it to those who wish to experience the REAL ryokan of Japan! Oh, and the onsen water is so gooooooooooooooooooooooood, my skin feels so soft after bathing.

Stayed here last week during heavy snowfall, and choosing this ryokan turned out to be the perfect decision. Check-in was detailed and thoughtful. The butler, who I believe was named Junko, spent about 30 minutes explaining the room, amenities, and house rules, using picture cards and translation tools due to limited English, which made the process clear and smooth. The room was cosy with a beautiful ocean view. The furnishings are not modern, but that is part of the charm, as it feels like stepping back into the 80s or 90s while still being well maintained and fully functional. Heating was sufficient even in temperatures of -5 to -10 degrees. The room was clean, and the bedding was prepared during dinner and folded again at breakfast, which made us feel very well taken care of. We pre-ordered dinner and breakfast via Trip.com and requested a beef and crab set in advance, which was accommodated. The portions were very generous, and while the food may not be top-tier, it was better than many ryokans I have stayed at. There is a private onsen available free for the first use for 45 minutes, with additional charges for subsequent sessions. The onsen closes daily at 10am for cleaning. The ryokan is located in Yunokawa Onsen, about 30 minutes from town. I recommend dining in, as going out requires a walk and staying in allows you to fully enjoy the experience. Overall, a very pampering stay. Highly recommended for those looking for a five-star level ryokan experience.

Every time I visit Hakodate, I choose to stay here... The sea view onsen is wonderful, and having dinner at the hotel is super convenient. The menu changes daily, which is great!

Don't be fooled by this hotel's 100-something ranking. First, their bed mite removal is subpar. I'm allergic to dust mites, and as soon as I lay down, I started itching. I ended up having to use my own sheets and duvet cover as a barrier. Second, Chinese guests, don't even bother. When it comes to differentiated service compared to Japanese guests, the Japanese get explanations and service while kneeling. Regardless of whether I understand Japanese or not, paying the same price for the same service is a basic business ethic. Third, after 11 PM (or was it another time?), if you want to go out, you have to tell them in advance because they lock the doors. The problem is, who knows if you'll want to go to a convenience store in the middle of the night or if you'll have a headache or fever and can't find anyone, and the language barrier would be incredibly frustrating. On the bright side, the large glass windows are indeed a highlight, but other places also have balconies.

Wonderful sea view from rooms, hospitable service, great spring Evening is perfect except the dinner is a little overpriced. Don’t think it’s up to a Michelin one star standard any more.
