Yunohama Hotel

The hotel has a beautiful exterior but the facilities are quite old. There's no auto-lock on the room doors, and they only provide a single physical key, not a card. I stayed in a four-person tatami room. While the room felt a bit old, it was clean, and the air conditioning worked fine. A slight downside was the lack of an electric kettle in the room; the only hot water available was from a non-electric pot that staff had presumably filled beforehand, so I ended up drinking lukewarm tea. Since the hotel faces the sea, the view of Hakodate Bay from the open-air bath in the public bathhouse was excellent, as it's right there. I couldn't access the rooftop during my stay, possibly due to poor weather.

Unfortunately, meals weren't included, so it was an izakaya for dinner and a convenience store for breakfast. The hot spring, especially the open-air bath, was incredible with perfect weather! Soaking in the perfectly-temperatured onsen, listening to the waves as background music, and watching seagulls fly overhead was pure bliss! However, the room was very old and that was a letdown.

Our flight from Sapporo to Hakodate was cancelled, so we had to switch to traveling by train, which meant we arrived at 11 PM. We had notified the hotel in advance about our late arrival, but we were still a bit anxious when we got there. Thankfully, we were able to check in and spend the night without any issues. (Grateful)

The food was delicious, with plenty of sashimi, my favorite dish! Also, the bath slippers had numbered tags, a nice touch not found at other hot spring inns.

I chose this hotel after looking at the photos, but was disappointed to find that the interior hadn't been renovated. It was on the sixth floor, so I was amazed to see the Tsugaru Straits when I opened the window. Early in the morning, there was no traffic noise, so I could close my eyes and listen to the sound of the waves, which felt great. However, a colleague of mine who stayed on a lower floor said that all he could see outside the window was a warehouse. The breakfast buffet was satisfying, with delicious seafood, Matsumae pickles, and miso soup. If you like lodgings from a generation ago, this is the place for you.

The location is at the Yunokawa Seaside. The view from the seaside rooms is amazing, and the outdoor hot springs can directly see the sea, which is amazing. However, the room facilities are old and the toilet is not smart. Can you believe that Japanese public toilets are all smart, but the toilet in this hotel is not smart. I went there in winter and it was cold. The experience was terrible. But the price is relatively friendly, so I can only bear it. Next to the hotel is the famous botanical garden, where monkeys take a hot spring bath

The rooms are a bit old, but the front desk, dining area, and hot springs have all been renovated. The open-air bath, where you can listen to the sound of the waves, is also quite nice.
