A lovely ryokan-style stay in Hakone
A very good ryokan-style hotel offering great value for money and an excellent opportunity to experience an onsen in its natural setting. The kaiseki-style dinner was rich and beautifully presented, with plenty to taste and enjoy. Breakfast was equally generous – make sure you’re ready for it, as we were still full from the previous evening!
Sleeping on futons was surprisingly comfortable, and the room’s opening window with a small terrace overlooking the garden was fantastic. We had to change rooms during our stay, and the staff were exceptionally helpful, taking every step to ensure we were happy. And we truly were – thank you, arigatou gozaimasu!
Enjoy your stay!

Everything was great (great location, very friendly and courteous staff, delicious food, perfect baths), except for a little confusion about dinner time. The voucher said one time, but the manager gave us a different time, 2 hours later, and after that we got a call saying we were late. But they called on time, we made it to dinner))

We stayed in a Japanese-style room, where we had to move the table and set up the bedding ourselves. There was a tea ceremony set in the room, but no water provided. The service felt rather poorly thought out for the price. Overall, I wasn’t very impressed. The private onsen costs 3,000 yen and must be booked in advance at the reception — it’s not possible to do it through their online system. The service at the hotel is fine — everything is just as described in the reviews.
You need to take the funicular from Gora Station to reach the hotel. The doors open on both sides, so make sure to check in advance which side to exit from.

The only downside for this beautiful resort is that the rooms are a bit worn. Except for this, it is just amazing. Breakfast and dinner are the pieces of art. Lush green surroundings. They have private onsens, which could be very convenient if its your first time. And the location is just fine, you can drop your luggage and continue to Hakone’s circle route.

There was some imperfections on the paper doors which didn't look nice, but besides its amazing. The vibe, garden and served food were amazing. Staff is really friendly and willing to help. Especially thankful to front desk girl who worked between 16:00-17:00 on May 12, i was getting late to my train, panicking, she helped me, even though barely speaked English, so I made it on time:)

The restaurant service was far from satisfactory. I booked a room with meals including a 8-year-old. However, all meals served were for adults, many courses for which are cold. My kid was sick and couldn’t eat cold food. I asked the waiters and the manager whether we can change to kid meal, they said no. Then I asked them, considering my kid was sick, whether I can pay extra for some non-cold food such as bread, that they were servicing kids on other table for, they said no again. The reason was, it would take very long time to request for bread. I was like “excuse me?!”
Anyhow, it was not worth my time arguing with them any longer. But for the worth of futures travelers considering this hotel, I feel it’s worth putting my honest comment here…

Overall cleanness and facilities are ok, service is non existent. Futan was a thin mattress unlike the other ones we’ve had in similar hotels in Japan, when we asked for one extra mattress for my husband they first said yes it’s available then quickly changed their tune said no. No help with luggages at check in, no acknowledgment of your arrival, such a contrast with the other hotels we’ve stayed at on this trip.

The hotel is located some distance from Gora Station, and there is a slope to go up. I was traveling by car and it felt okay. There are a few hot springs, but there are free massage chairs on the second floor. There is 24-hour free coffee and tea in the lobby. The hot spring meals in the morning and evening are pretty good.

This is a ryokan, there is: public/private onsen (1,500 yen/45 min), free coffee/cocoa/tea machine, free massage chairs. The onsen itself is super, the rooms are large, clean and authentic. Kaiseki dinner and breakfast are top notch!

Wonderful Ryokan! Onsen and kaiseki are gorgeous.
Cons: Futons need to be made by yourself and no one ever came and let the lizard out of the room(

If you are coming from Odawara, it is cheaper to use the tram (the hotel provides a free shuttle from/to Gora station)
Amazing breakfasts and dinners (but it is better to translate the menu with a google magnifying glass, because sometimes the food is not easy to identify by eye)
A nice spacious room, renovation from the beginning of the century, but high-quality. Wooden shutters with rice paper, very comfortable soft futons.
The Ryokan has two onsen: a free public one, and a private one (can be booked for 1500 yen).
Massage chairs are free 24 hours, but 2 out of 5 are slightly broken)

Quite a large and old hotel - ryokan in Hakone. Excellent location on a circular scenic route. The hotel itself, how can I say this... the atmosphere is strikingly reminiscent of the Mashuk Hotel in Pyatigorsk ))) or any hotel or recreation center of the 90s. Both the private (outdoors) and public (indoors) onsen are good. The skin really does feel silky after this mineral water. My first ever kaiseki dinner was beautiful and had a well-designed menu, but it didn't inspire me to have more. Yukatas are provided and detailed instructions on how to wear them. My room had a shower on the balcony and a wooden bathtub. Taking a shower there in the morning was a special pleasure.
