I booked a room with a private onsen, and the room itself was incredibly spacious. You never have to worry about Japan's high standards for cleanliness; it was so clean and comfortable to stay in. It was truly blissful to go straight from showering to soaking in the onsen! Breakfast was delivered to a separate dining area right across from our room, with each room having its own dedicated dining space – absolutely no complaints there.

Suimeisou's location is fantastic. For our family of three with a child, it was incredibly convenient to walk to the hotel with our luggage right after arriving at Hakone-Yumoto Station. The price for three people for two nights and three days was 7500 RMB. The hotel front desk staff and the ladies in charge were all very welcoming. If we had any questions, we could call our dedicated butler. Since we were staying right next to the old station, we opted for breakfast only instead of the half-board option. The breakfasts for both days were different, and each meal included a vegetable salad, grilled fish, eggs, and more. They were small, individual portions, but very filling. Our butler told me that there were both Western and Chinese breakfast options available every day, which was a nice touch. The highlight for me was enjoying four hot spring baths during our three-day, two-night stay. Both the private onsen in our room and the outdoor 'Kawachan' onsen on the hotel's top floor were incredibly comfortable and completely washed away the fatigue of travel. This really made our 8-day, 7-night Tokyo + Hakone trip feel quite relaxed, and the hot springs played a huge part in that. The outdoor 'Kawachan' onsen had a higher temperature, which might be a bit hot for kids, but the view was unique. The private onsen in our room had a good temperature that could be adjusted, so each had its own advantages.

The room was tiny, nothing like the pictures! There wasn't even space to put our luggage... The public onsen was just a plain pool, completely lacking any ambiance or nice surroundings. We paid extra for a private onsen, but it was only good for photos... (And you could even see the hotel across the way while soaking). The toilet paper 🧻 in this hotel was as thin as what you'd find in a public restroom. 😅 The hotel's dining area was across from our room and had no windows. The food was just mediocre (and breakfast ended at 8:30 AM, which is way too early). Terrible value for money. Many other hotels in Hakone have their own gardens, but this one had absolutely nothing. 🙂↔️ I won't be staying here again.

Hakone Suimeisou, although not cheap, is truly a great value-for-money onsen ryokan in Hakone when you consider its location, facilities, ambiance, and service. The hot springs are genuine, and both the room and meals are very high-class. It would be even better if it were a bit more affordable.

The biggest advantage is probably its proximity to Yumoto Station. You don't even need to go upstairs from the second floor; just walk to the end, turn left, take the elevator down, walk forward, turn left, and you're there in two minutes. 1. I planned to explore Hakone during the day and knew I'd miss dinner, so I only booked breakfast instead of the half-board option. That turned out to be a great decision. I definitely got back to Yumoto after dinner service had ended. The breakfast looked beautiful in photos, but it was hard to eat. There wasn't really anything appealing; just a bunch of miscellaneous small dishes and pickles. 2. The private onsen needs to be booked in advance, but it was just okay. 3. If you have a lot of luggage, staying in Yumoto is more convenient for check-in, and there are other restaurants open at night. If you're traveling light in Hakone, I'd probably choose Gora, book dinner at the hotel, and explore the various museums around Gora. For a day trip, you don't need to see everything; just pick one or two places you like.

The location is fantastic, just a few minutes' walk from the train station. There are several restaurants right outside the hotel, which is super convenient. The room was lovely and clean! The staff were also wonderful and very helpful.
