This is a truly amazing place. Traditionsl interior with open fires, excellent outside tables, heaters. Grest position. The food is superb. The service is friendly and attentive. Such a really great menu with a great wine list. Lovely nibbles, wonderful choice os starters. Main courses included traditional and more unusual. We had the cheese board instead of desert. We will be back!

Visited this wonderful Hotel as a gift from our daughter and son in law. As we arrived we were welcomed by Lucy who escorted us to our divine room and explained everything that we may have needed. The dinner and breakfast were just superb, which was what we expected, but what makes this Inn award winning is the superb hospitality, from the girls at the bar to the girls who served our beautiful food and drinks, not forgetting housekeeping ladies. Little touches like crystal glasses, homemade cookies in our room with beautifully presented coffees and teas, "Emma's" homemade muesli and jams, just bang on the money. As expected the food was delicious, the featherblade beef, the duck and local cheeses were sublime. Beautiful walks nearby with the fabulous Halifax Borough Market, The Piece Hall and Shibden Hall, we really did pack it all in. When you have a special night away you really want to leave feeling spoilt, we certainly did. Thankyou so much to everyone at The Shibden Inn, we shall definitely return.

Sunday lunch. Good service and delicious starters but roast beef and gravy were pretty average and not very tasty the gravy tasted like it wasn’t homemade with meat juices, roast potatoes weren’t crispy, cauliflower cheese was undercooked and very little sauce, Yorkshire puddings were crispy but bordering on burnt. We had a superb roast dinner here 2 years ago and were looking forward to returning as staying in the area again but disappointed on this occasion so I’m afraid we won’t be back.

Excellent lunch here. Staff were lovely. The mill is very oldy worldly. Amazing setting. Food was delicious. We had duck, fish and chips and cod. Followed by chhese and biscuits, they were lovely, a fantastic choice of cheeses. Would return.

What a wonderful first visit to shibden mill yesterday the service and food were just simply excellent. Honestly we were treated so amazingly by every single member of staff who attended to us what a wonderful experience and I can’t wait to return to the area to visit again! I even bought a wedding dress locally so we could visit here each time I have to re visit the shop (not that an excuse is needed!) thank you so very much x

Terrible cramped seating near a draughty door. We asked to be moved as the table we were placed at was cramped and in the isle, no room to move and a constant flow of people passing and knocking the seat my partner was sat at. We were moved as there was space elsewhere, so why were we placed in the isle?. The food was just average and the service was efficient but the staff were unable to smile. Will not be returning.

This isn't a pub. It's a restaurant. When you walk in, they ask you immediately if you have booked. Why would you book to go into a pub ? They are only interested in the food side. Those wanting a drink, after a good long walk, have to sit outside. They pride themselves as being at the heart of valley life. What rubbish. Dogs are not welcomed here and there are only 3 tables to sit at if your trusty friend is with you, and of course you have to eat. Inside is so dark you have to use your phone torch to read anything. Terrible stop off. Little tip for your staff: know your 0% drinks as well as your wines. It helps to decide which to buy!
