This was my ninth trip to Hangzhou, and my first time visiting in winter.
I had originally bought a pre-sale package, but due to an uncertain schedule, I missed the reservation deadline. So, I had to book on the spot.
I booked a room that included a buffet. The front desk upgraded us to a lake-view executive room in Building 2 and even gave us a set of postcards and a cake, which was a very pleasant surprise.
We chose the dinner buffet. The individual price is 328 RMB plus a 15% service charge, but since it was included in our accommodation package, the price felt quite reasonable.
We arrived at the hotel at 6:30 PM. After checking in, we immediately went for dinner. The highlights were the hairy crabs and soft-shelled turtles. For grilled items, they had steak, lamb chops, flounder, oysters, abalone, and more. For sashimi, there was salmon, tuna, sea bream, sweet shrimp, and other options. While the overall variety wasn't super extensive, it was very convenient not to have to go out for food. So, all in all, it was pretty good.
In the evening, I enjoyed a walk along the hotel's private 1.5-kilometer lakefront, which brought me immense tranquility.
Since it's a state guesthouse, after some deliberation, Xizi was my first choice, mainly because I love its location on the outer part of West Lake, offering a more expansive view. I later learned that it also hosted guests for the G20 Summit and the Asian Games, and it's where Chairman Xi once stayed 27 times during his visits to Hangzhou.
The staff at Xizi Hotel were all exceptionally well-groomed, well-trained, and very friendly, leaving a great impression on me.
The winter plum tree was still there, and the moment I opened the window, its fragrance filled the air, making me long to return. I look forward to my next visit.
