We were booked in for 4 nights but after ond asked to be moved. Which our tour company organised. From the onset they appeared disorganised and unsure as to what was happening which was a huge contrast to all other hotels we stayed in whist on holiday in Vietnam. The electrics were dangerous, sparking plugs and difficult to insert even their plugs let alone an adaptor. The air-conditioning was not working in our room and despite requesting assistance, although promised it never came. Breakfast was in rooftop restaurant which was very limited and question the cleanliness. Food was not being kept warm. In general compared to other 3 star hotels this felt like a 2 star not a 3 star it is given. Pictures on photos didn't look like room, but unsure if we just had a poor room although was classed as a superior room.

If we visit Hanoi in the future this hotel will be our first choise. From the moment we were helped inside we felt welcome. The staff by the front desk were very helpful ,we even got our room upgraded from bakside view (with early-morning rooster included) to front view room when our room was not ready when we came back from a cruise. Breakfast was good and well prepeared. The deepfried chicken was cold,but we did not bother since the omelettes,fried eggs and the cold-cuts +veggies was very good. You will find nice restaurants and bars close to the hotel. The water muppet theater , a nice lake with a even nicer temple is within walking distance.

I stayed here for three nights leaving on Christmas day for Hoi An. The hotel is located within walking distance of many sight seeing sites. Hoan Kiem Lake is a few minutes walk from the hotel. On weekends they close off the streets there so pedestrians and cyclists can freely roam around. The hotel is located in a very convenient location. My room had a window that looked out on Hang Dau Street. There is one elevator. Unsure what happens if it breaks down. The breakfast is located on the 10th floor but there is no 10th floor button in the elevator. So this is important for those with physical challenges. At the same time just getting into the hotel you need to climb some steps. To get to the 10th floor you exit on the 9th floor then climb up some steps to the breakfast area. Someone will ask you your room number. For Vietnam the coffee is not the best tasting for a country that can put Starbucks coffee to shame. If you want to have a choice of the buffet breakfast try and arrive early. I say that because I notice that a lot of the food is eaten out. And you have to stand around asking for missing food. Simple things like bread they run out of. If you plan to stay here a week it might be best to eat breakfast outside. Right near the hotel is a shop that sells breakfast. Based on their menu it's not expensive. Or as I said try and arrive early as the saying goes "the early bird catches the worm." When you make a left turn outside the hotel you keep walking you run into some stores with what seems like a factory worth of stores. There are lots of souvenirs sold in the area. And many restaurants with affordable food prices. A bottle of beer is around US$1. So if on a budget you can have a few beers. If you really want to buy beers on the cheap go to Circle K a retail store that sells many food items and beers.

Not the best hotel, but was okay for the price and great location. Staff were friendly, breakfast was very average. Rooms had boarded up windows so not a lot of natural light.

We made an unplanned 2 week visit to Hanoi to be with a sick friend. We picked HM because of its location and the favorable reviews here and elsewhere. The hotel was perfect: very well-placed near Hoan Kiem Lake, roomy, tidy/spotless, delicious breakfasts, and a friendly and attentive staff. The bed was especially comfortable. The staff handled our laundry professionally. They assisted us very ably with a driver for a day trip. The HM made our stay in Hanoi very easy.

A very comfortable friendly hotel situated in the old quarter of Hanoi. It is clean, good value and they go out of their way to help. Delicious Vietnamese breakfast is included. I would recommend it and stay there again. Ignore other reviews about noise complaints. It didn't worry us and besides - this is Hanoi!
