Property Description
The Bear is a favourite for Romantic couples- especially since it became a hideaway for Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor at the height of their love affair. With its Ivy Clad facade- oak beams- open fireplaces and stone walls- it exudes warmth and cosiness- perfect if you want to escape from it all and treat yourself to some good old fashioned hospitality. Extensively refurbished throughout- the hotel now boasts a conference centre complete with state-of-the-art facilities.

Location: Highly praised for its proximity to Blenheim Palace (a 5-10 minute walk) and central placement in Woodstock, offering convenience for visitors exploring nearby attractions like Oxford.

The hotel is a ten-minute walk from Blenheim Palace, which is very convenient. If you are in Oxford the night before, you can stay here and go directly to Churchill Manor the next morning. The house is an old house, but it is quite clean. Better than expected. The only thing that is not satisfactory is the receptionist on the evening of October 5th. Her coldness makes people think that they are in Germany instead of Britain, but as a front desk receptionist, she does not even have the most basic polite greetings (such as hello, welcome) and her attitude is not like a German at all. I have never encountered such service quality in the UK, which is very unprofessional, so I choose 2 points (unsatisfied) for the service. If you don't want to spend money to see a big cold face, you can choose other hotels nearby.

The room is hidden in the path. I planned to go to the manor with my friends, so I stayed there for one night. The back door entrance of the manor is about 5 minutes' walk from the hotel, which is very convenient. Overall, it is good, but the price-performance ratio is average.

The environment is good, the breakfast is also good, but the mattress is too soft

Reception was frosty. Room advertised as 4 poster on ******* and was a small double attic room. Room hot and blinds didn’t keep out sun. Staff in restaurant were good. Expensive for room quality and service. Parking on street. Location good.

A better stay than last time This was our 2nd visit in 5 weeks. We have stayed at the Bear over half a dozen times in the past 20 years We had some concerns after our last visit at the end of April but were pleased to see improvements in most areas from the welcome to staffing in the bar. We look forward to seeing this continue in the future.

Hotel was okay. Not the cleanest - but still nice. Room was boiling and couldn't cool it down, so was hard to sleep. However. Staff were lovely and food was okay.
