Lairds Lodge Country Estate

I read somewhere that Laird’s Lodge is ‘quirky’ and that is not a bad word to describe it, but other thoughts that come to mind include ‘friendly’, ‘comfortable’, and ‘client focused’. From our arrival when we were greeted by Barney, everything was focused on making us feel at home, and was about making sure we enjoyed our stay. Barney was ably helped by Eddie, Deputy, Gertrude and Doree in this regard (and apologies if I have missed out any names). You can read about the facilities elsewhere, what you won’t get from that is the relaxed vibe and the kind of ‘no problem’ attitude that is a cornerstone of excellent customer service. The food is excellent too…we thought at first that the choice might be limited but over our four day stay (we ate-in every night) we were never disappointed. The bedrooms are very spacious, and maybe a little tired, but we were really comfortable and had a pleasant outlook onto the forest pool. The main pool is also a nice place to be in the middle of a beautiful garden. The main building is very interesting being in the Dutch manor style, and the estate is very private. Just a word about location, the lodge is about 10km from Plett…so if you were expecting to be in the town it isn’t…it’s close to the N2 which connects Plett and Knysna, which means easy access by car to both towns (about 20km from Knysna). We enjoyed our stay here, and in particular enjoyed the way we were looked after.

From the moment we stepped inside we were totally spoiled. The service and quality of everything (furnishings, food, service, everything) was excellent. They also adapted their menu skillfully for my diabetic requirements. I would definitely recommend this place.

many thanks to lesley and Alison, the loving owners of lairds, we loved every minute, fabulous rooms, grounds, pools, restaurant, food, service, advice on tours etc. we have just moved on to rosenhof in oudtshoorn, 5 star, and no comparison, awful, service etc. wish we had stayed for longer at lairds. we will return next year. thank you again x

This was a beautiful hotel everything about it was very tasteful and very relaxing. The staff were very friendly and professional we were looked after by Eric and Barnard . We only had two nights, and I wish we had booked for three. You do need a car, but it is perfect for a base to check out the local area. I have to mention the wonderful gardens perfect for sitting in and relaxing.

Lairds Lodge is a perfect place to stay along the Garden Route. The location is perfect and the rooms were top standard. The staff could not do enough and weee very helpful in arranging where to go and what to see. I would definitely recommend Lairds Lodge to anyone travelling along the Garden Route.

This was a stop over between a trip from Oudtshoorn to Shamwarwi and lovely couple of nights. The Hotel is set in beautiful natural grounds which are very well kept. The staff just amazing, ensuring everything is as we needed and polite all the way through. Breakfast amazing, rooms very comfortable, private garden areas tranquil.... definately return if we were passing through again.
