Positive The bed was comfortable. Negatives 1. Water pressure non existent - showering was a waste of time. 2. Insufficient surfaces, facilities and storage. I expected the room to have desk like all the other Premiers we’ve stayed in. Everything had to go on the little circular table, on the floor, or remain in the suitcases for which there was only one stand. There were no glasses in the room or bathroom and had to ask for 2. We were told to use the coffee mugs for wine and in the bathroom. 3. Excessive noise from the motor company next door started at around 6 am. 4. Excessive noise from the refurbishment work started at around 7:30 am. 5. Excessive noise from a faulty lift went on almost until midnight when I had to go to reception to complain. Only then was it disabled and signs put up for it not to be used. I was told that there wasn’t an alternative room for us. 6. We ate at the Brewers Fayre on the first night - the fish and chips were lukewarm and tasteless. We vowed not to eat there again. 7. After the lift fiasco I arranged to speak with the manager the next morning. We had decided that after 2 disturbed nights and early mornings we could not stay for the remaining 4 booked nights and to check out and come home. I was immediately informed that there was, now, an alternative room for us away from the faulty lift (which had been fixed that morning) but it wasn’t a guarantee that we would not be woken each morning by the building work. I asked about a refund as per Premier Inn’s Good Night Sleep Policy, but was told that because my reminder email mentioned that there was refurbishment work being undertaken [no mention of the excessive noise it would bring] we were not eligible. Reasons for checking out 4 days early 1. Lack of an effective shower 2. Noise from the lift, even when working properly 3. Excessive external noise from local businesses 4. Excessive noise from refurbishment work Outcome I completed the feedback form and submitted a formal complaint I received a call from Customer Relations who reinforced their position. They did apologise and offered a full refund for the 2 nights we stayed. Nothing could be done about the 4 nights we missed out on. We have stayed in many Premier Inns all over the UK but this was the worst one ever. It does need a complete facelift, but they should have closed it down completely whilst it was being undertaken. I would not recommend anyone stay here.
