As with other reviews I could enthusiastically comment on the gorgeous furniture, artwork, authentic Victorian elegance, the lovely gardens, attention to detail and much much more. For now though, I will just say that what most impressed me was the kindness, being welcomed not into a business but into a much loved home that they so graciously allow you to visit and share. I was treated as if I had been a special friend coming to visit. Time there is serene. I basked in the experience and hope to stay there again.

Fantastic stay at this truly unique Victorian Bed & Breakfast house in St Leonard’s - Hastings. The house is beautiful, full of interesting antiques and collectables. The hosts are absolutely charming , and do everything they can to make sure their guests have wonderful stay. They even baked a fresh cake for our arrival and served it on bone china and silver teapot in the garden. We had Mr Parry’s room which is large , bright and cheerful with lovely period en-suite. The house is very clean and well kept. Fresh fruit, granola and yoghurt breakfast was delicious. The location is perfect for Hastings and St Leonard’s . Free on street parking. I highly recommend a staying here. Nb - the house is decorated with some religious iconography which we loved but maybe not to everyone’s taste.

The reviews we read before our visit meant we were keeping an open mind. Good customer service before arrival put us in the right mood as this was the start of a celebration trip. The car park at St Benedict is very small but there was plenty of street parking and it looked like a safe area, which it proved to be. The Victorian feel starts from the moment you ring the door bell and a warm welcome from Alexandr. We were checked in quickly and shown to Mr Parry's room, the only en-suite room here. We were then offered, and accepted, tea and cake in the garden. This was a quality experience that immediately had us relaxed. The house is crammed full of Victorian artefacts and they are fascinating. Much of it is religious in content and reflects the Orthadox faith followed by the hosts. Religion is not forced upon you but they do offer good tips, we were told that Ramsgate at the end of our trip had an excellent church to visit and they were right. It was nice to have time away from the TV and it was really nice having the radio on at breakfast. Breakfast is ordered the previous evening and time you want it stated. It is of very good quality and plentiful. All in all, a great place to stay, with excellent hosts and plenty to look at around the house. The main town is not too far away but the area is very hilly. Many thanks to Paul and Alexandr for making the start of our trip so special and memorable for all the right reasons.

St Benedict Victorian Bed & Breakfast Hastings Not just a B&B but an experience in itself 910822821 Such a find! Friendly greetings from Paul, then an exploration of the house, with the Victorian artefacts, a collection of chinoiserie and Russian Orthodox iconography this is a very special place indeed, beautiful, unique and a place worth not just to stay but to experience. St Benedict's has comfortable beds, functioning Victorian plumbing and real baths, provides an excellent classic English breakfast served by a be-robed Father Alex with methylated spirit toast warmers, home made marmalade and in the afternoon tea and homemade cake was offered. There is an ingenious garden to admire and enjoy and, find above all finds, a Russian Orthodox Church on site. Restaurants a plenty very near, again personally recommended by Father Alex, and Hastings Old Town definitely worth exploring, car parking easy, and a good place to explore the delights of Sussex. A ride to the landscape of Dungeness on the Dymchurch and Hythe Railway was a childhood experience re-visited. Thank you both or having us and making us feel so welcome.

A three night stay at St Benedicts with my daughter. We received a warm welcome from Sue and Gordon on arrival with tea and cake served in the drawing room. They were standing in for the owners, Paul and Stephen, who we met at breakfast in the morning. They are both such lovely, knowledgeable and charming gentlemen, it was a pleasure to meet them and stay in their home and talk about the house and history. As soon as you walk in the door the clock goes back to 1882, every detail in decoration, furnishings, curtains, carpets, bathrooms and an exquisite dining room. At breakfast our toast was kept warm by an original toast warmer with oil burner (I want one).  We so miss the delicious breakfasts, especially the scrambled eggs and kippers.  They have both spent years restoring the house back to how it used to be and so many books everywhere. I felt so at home as I love Victorian history and neither of us wanted to leave; my daughter now understands why that time is so special. We stayed in the school room with extremely comfortable twin beds and a victorian bathroom next door with original features. Oh and the garden! Absolutely stunning like the Secret Garden or Tom's Midnight Garden with the most incredible water features. I think Stephen is the main gardener but I'm sure they work equally hard. On our final evening we relaxed in the drawing room with books and a crossword after a busy day in Hastings. A last chance to enjoy this amazing house before a final delicious breakfast in the morning. Thank you to Paul and Stephen. We hope to visit again. Oh and finally thank you for tucking in our fluffy animals in the morning paws crossed.

I was looking to book a place on the coast in a hurry and after a quick scan through reviews&pictures I chose St. Benedicts. It's an absolute gem! The place preserve original Victorian features&objects, which is a pleasure to look at and use. My husband and I spent some time to have our own excursion around the place - you feel like you go back in time and you suddenly find yourself in a different era. So much to look at! It's like a museum. My husband called it a Harry Potter house as it got a lot of weird and wonderful things of Victorian time. Nevertheless, the mattresses are very modern&comfortable, you have all necessities such as kettle&hairdryer in your room, breakfast is very delicious with plenty of choices and served in a lovely dining room. The place is immaculately clean and looked after. The garden is rather big and pleasure to visit. You can seat down and have a chat there in the shade of the trees and enjoy the smell of flowers and plants. Plenty of free parking outside the house. Short and pleasant walk down to the sea, but you will have to go up the gentle slope when you go back. we like this place so much, we prolonged our stay. We stayed in Nanny Hawkins bedroom first. The bathroom is non en-suite and during the night you have to put your dressing gown and walk to the adjacent bathroom through the corridor. Next time we booked Mr. Perry's rooms and if they are available i will highly recommend to book this option. You have an en-suite shower and two rooms with plenty of memorabilia to enjoy. Both hosts - Paul&Alexander-are very polite and prepared to go extra mile to accommodate any of your needs. We were very glad to stay in this B&B and Hastings started to grow on us as a place because of this lovely home we found for a couple of days stay. The place got a lot of reference to Russian history& Russian Orthodox church as Alexander is a priest and going to London every Sunday to serve at Chiswick Russian Orthodox church. Now a small church is erecting on the territory of B&B and should be opened in October. It's another good reason for Orthodox people to visit this wonderful place. Alexander will have a pleasure to show you to the church.
