The best thing about this hotel is its location. It's about an 80-minute ride from Hefei Xinqiao International Airport via the Skyrail Transfer Line (free bus to the airport) to the subway station via Nan'gang Station, then about a 7-minute walk from there. The Hefei City Hall Square bus terminal is almost directly connected. It's a 3-minute walk to Huaihe Road Pedestrian Street, Hefei's most bustling shopping district, home to Mingjiao Temple and Li Hongzhang's former residence. There's a cheap food stall area below the hotel, and plenty of other restaurants nearby.
The hotel occupies the ninth floor of a multi-tenant building. There's a guided sign on the first floor (though it's a little hard to find), so it was easy to find. The front desk staff are on hand 24 hours a day and are very helpful.
We chose a Japanese-style tatami room with a large screen and a bathtub. The room was spacious, comfortable, and generally clean (although there was some dust on the window frame behind the invisible curtain). The large bathtub is located by the window, separate from the (proper) shower stall shared with the toilet, making it an unusual arrangement. The layout was somehow spacious.
(However, since the window overlooks the dirty roofs of the buildings below, it feels better to keep the blinds closed.)
The negatives were...
The hot water pressure was weak. ⇒ The shower was manageable, but the bathtub's hot water outlet was oddly shaped, causing half of the water to leak out (I stuffed tissues into the spout to redirect the water flow).
The bathtub stopper was loose, causing hot water to leak. ⇒ I wondered why the water wasn't filling on the first day, so the next day I tried stuffing a plastic bag into the stopper, and it started filling up.
The room was cleaned daily, and amenities and two bottles of water were replenished.
The TV was a large projector that projected onto the wall opposite the bed.
There was no refrigerator, but beer, chuhai, and soft drinks were sold at the front desk at prices comparable to convenience stores.
It's not what you'd expect from a Japanese hotel, but if you understand the rules and use it with care, I think it's a good hotel considering the location and price.
