Los Suenos Marriott Ocean & Golf Resort

All good except the kids club This was our second stop in Costa Rica. The resort is very comfortable and clearly tailored for American visitors. While you don’t quite get the authentic Costa Rican vibe, everything is well-organised and convenient. We’re from Europe, so the atmosphere felt a bit different to us. The staff were all very kind and welcoming. Our biggest issue was with the kids’ club. It’s not really a traditional kids’ club – they offer kids’ activities three or four times a day, each lasting around 30 minutes. To be clear, I wasn’t looking to leave my daughter there all day, but it was a bit frustrating that we constantly had to check when the activity ended. Once, the staff member even walked her back to us by hand after the session went a bit over time – my husband had stepped away to take a quick call as the 30 minutes had already passed. It felt a bit awkward. That said, the kids’ club staff were lovely. I believe they were simply following the guidelines set by management.

The resort is further from towns and beaches than it seems on the map, the beach isn't really one you want to swim or walk on because of a lot of debris, meals are good but very expensive. Overall, not great value for money.

For the price, it's a noisy room, you can clearly hear conversations in the next room because of a connecting door. The bathroom does not have extraction, so aromas and steam are share in the room easy as it has barn doors... so privacy is not the best either. The glass doors leading to the pool are stuck, almost impossible to slide... and found food leftovers in the room as I arrived. Late checking was weird too, a few minutes past 4pm is too late.

The Marriott Los Suenos is a luxury hotel sandwiched within the rainforest in the middle of Herradura. The staff is friendly, and the food/coffee shop/gift store/spa golf course are all very nice. Overall, however, my biggest complaint is that everything at the hotel is way over price relative to the value.

Great location resort We first stayed at the Marriott Los Suenos twenty years ago. We came twice then and loved it. We came for the sport fishing and were not disappointed. The marina then was small and we had great access to all the sport fishing boats but now it has gotten very exclusive and if you’re not actually on a boat, you can’t access the docks. The hotel was smaller then but fantastic. It has gotten bigger but not better. The staff was great but the tile floors make the hallways noisy and people talking out in the hall woke me up very early every morning. The room was comfortable and we liked it but the food in the restaurants was mediocre. The coffee shop did have great coffee and pastries and we enjoyed breakfast there more than in the restaurant. I wish I had more positive things to say because it has always been one of my favorite places. We went fishing, had a great time and did catch some fish but I miss the old Los Suenos. It’s such a great location and a great place to fish that I guess the change is inevitable
