We spent a week at Creta Blu for our first holiday together and coincidentally our anniversary. The hotel is beautiful, in a fantastic location on top of a hill so it has stunning views over the town and out to sea. The staff at the hotel were nice. We have to give a special mention to Eva and Sofia in particular who were friendly and accommodating and nothing was ever too much trouble and they made us feel very welcome. Breakfast was the same every day and there was coffee, teas, juices and water on offer, and then yoghurt, honey, bread, mini croissants, pancakes, eggs, fruit, cucumber, tomatoes and olives. Eggs rotated daily between fried, scrambled and omelette. We asked for a couple of extras on a few occasions which didn't seem to be a problem. We had a couple of lunches in the hotel restaurant which were of good quality, but what really stood out was the evening menu. We had the shrimp pasta and tuna steak and the tuna steak was the best I've ever had. It was more on the expensive side but we didn't begrudge spending the money as it was absolutely delicious. The pool area was great and has loads of sunbeds and some bigger chairs that we liked to refer to as "nests", and it was very peaceful for the most part. We didn't know what to expect from the town but we were pleasantly surprised. There are so many lovely tavernas and restaurants, cosy bars and interesting shops and everyone was so friendly. Everywhere we ate in town was of very high quality and very reasonably priced that we'd come back to Koutouloufari again in a heartbeat. We ventured down to the beach one day and spent about 15 minutes walking the boardwalk but swiftly turned back as it wasn't for us. Overall our week at Creta Blu was really lovely. However the reason we have only given 4 stars is because we had booked a grand suite with sea views and on our first night we were checked into the wrong room. Since we arrived at 23:30 there was no-one we could speak to about this until morning so our first night was spent in a room we hadn't booked or wanted. The problem was rectified the next morning with a member of staff called Lavinia but my partner had text George letting him know that it was a bad start to our holiday and he read the message and didn't reply. My partner had booked directly with the hotel and had conversed back and forth with George for weeks and not once did he come and introduce himself to her nor did he apologise for their mistake or even acknowledge it which we thought was peculiar and it did, unfortunately, leave a sour taste in our mouth for the remainder of our stay. Our flight home was very late so we didn't need to leave the hotel until 9pm and George did let us use the room for our entire last day, which we appreciated and it certainly made our last day more pleasant, but I still found the lack of any kind if acknowledgement for their mistake the first night very unusual. If it wasn't for that this review would be 5 stars but unfortunately it did somew
