As a family of 5 with 3 young children the staff at the Kalla Bongo were incredibly helpful and accommodating, particularly the manager Chandana who went out of his way to meet each of our requests and to ensure that we had a fantastic start to our Sri Lankan holiday. The peaceful resort has a beautiful setting on Hikkaduwa Lake with canoes which could be borrowed. The pool was lovely, clean and well-maintained and our kids spent a lot of time in there. The resort is only a short (5mins) tuktuk ride from the main town of Hikkaduwa and the nearest beach. Each morning we were served a very delicious and generously portioned breakfast of fruits, eggs, toast, jams, pancakes etc and each evening we ordered a tasty dinner from the on-site restaurant. We were so well looked after and when we visit Sri Lanka again we will definitely be staying at the Kalla Bongo!

I have two more days at this resort and it’s wonderful!! Everything about it - I can’t fault it! The staff are lovely, the rooms are clean and spacious, the pool is warm and crystal clear, the view over the lake is quite spectacular. And the food… wow!! I’m vegan and the staff were easily and graciously able to cater for my dietary requirements. My initial concern was the distance into Hikkaduwa, but this proved to be of no consequence as tuk tuks were always nearby. It’s actually great to be close but not too close!!

If you want a corporate clone hotel experience don't come here. This is a small hotel with staff that care about their customers. The service was 100 percent. Nothing was a problem. This has to be the best location for a hotel. Out of the way and not near crass main stream tourist hotels. It was peaceful and relaxed. The food was some of the best we have ever had, more like 5 star dinning at at very competitive price. We will be returning.

We stayed here for 6 nights and loved everything about Kalla Bongo Lake Resort. The location is just beautiful, rooms clean and comfortable with a great shower; staff are all really lovely and can't do enough to help. Breakfasts are fresh and beautifully presented. We had one evening meal here and it was truly delicious. We were the only ones in the hotel that evening and enjoyed personal service - it was amazing! I also celebrated my birthday here and had a surprise of balloons and a delicious birthday cake in the dining room at breakfast - just so special. We stayed in one of the Lagoon view rooms and it was truly magnificent to wake up to the sounds of wildlife and the stunning views. There is also a lovely pool to cool off in. There are canoes and kayaks for the use of guests at no charge - a great experience. It is very easy to get to the main part of Hikkaduwa - the staff call up a tuktuk which arrives within a few minutes and it is only a 10 min ride to the main road and beach. Highly recommended - it was really hard to leave this beautiful place. Thank you to everyone.

Na een moeilijke zoektocht vonden we het resort. We werden zeer hartelijk ontvangen door de gastheer en begeleid naar onze kamer naast het water. Het resort werd op dat moment opgefrist, maar hebben daar geen last van gehad. Het resort is afgelegen, voor verplaatsingen heb je een tuktuk nodig.

Es liegt sehr schön am See, ab von dem Trubel und man kann dort gut runterkommen.
Wir hatten das Glück, dass kaum Gäste da waren, weshalb es am Pool leer war und man richtig gut abschalten konnte
