We have stayed at the hotel on many times, but the hotel is definitely deteriorating and needs a full makeover

Nice stay while studying at the university of Surrey, Pieter was very helpful and I enjoyed some nice evening meals in the gastrobistro downstairs. Room was quiet and beautiful location on the Common ideal for walks. In honesty, the decor could benefit from updating along with new pillows. But I would stay again. All staff very friendly and hospitable.

Let's start with the positives. The breakfasts were good, and the young ladies serving were very friendly and efficient. The dining room was well decorated and clean.
Unfortunately, the bedroom was very disappointing. The bedside unit had the front of the drawer missing. The windowsills were filthy. There was a very strong smell of mould and damp in the room. Around the base of the taps and the overflow in the bathroom was black grime. I could go on, but suffice to say, it was all very tired and in need of a good scrub, especially the carpet.

The hotel was very warm, the bar on Friday night busy with a good atmosphere. The hotel is slightly tired. The breakfast was okay but not good value. I would not rush back to stay again.

Nice location and a nice hotel. Yes some of the decor needs a bit of updating but on the whole it was fine. The room was pleasant enough. Some areas need a lick of paint. The food in the restaurant was very nice.

Based around a listed building in an excellent location for access to the Devil's Punchbowl walking trails. The room was large and well equipped. The bed was comfortable and the towels were lovely. Good quality toiletries were provided. However there were some cheap things that spoiled it. The biscuits weren't anything special, and there was no spoon, just a disposable wooden stick. The 'glasses' in the bathroom were flimsy and disposable too. The extractor fan wasn't working (which we reported) and the grouting around the bath could do with a clean.
