Really enjoyed our stay at the Grand Old Duke. Spacious, comfortable, a dash of history, a great location, and even a little selection of physical copies of movies to watch - hadn't seen The Castle in years! Some fantastic restaurants nearby.

Fully self contained, great location, comfortable, and felt like we were experiencing historic Battery Point with period furniture. Very comfortable bed. Reasonably priced. Easy walk to restaurants and Salamanca Place. Host was helpful.

We stayed in the 2BR apartment upstairs and it is as big as a house! Plenty of room, huge lounge and dining room, and the beds are incredibly comfortable. All amenities are offered, including milk, tea, coffee, there is even a coffee machine (hallelujah!). The decor is so appropriate to the history of Grand Old Duke, but it is done in a tasteful and luxurious fashion. Loved staying here, will be back!

Beautifully furnished, quiet and in a great location. Some great local cafes nearby, as well as restaurants, such as Da Angelo - but definitely need to book in advance. Within easy walking distance of Harbour and Salamanca Place. Although there is only one shared car park - first in, first served - it is very easy to find a free park nearby.

A great central lication for Hobart 'touristing' and such lovely accomodation. The second ( single bed) room in the 'Cambridge' is a tad noisy if guests are staying in the apartment above... not recommended for light sleepers!

Beautiful place to stay would definitely stay there next time I visit Hobart. Close to delicious food and parks.

We’ve stayed at the Grand Old Duke before and I wouldn’t want to stay anywhere else in Hobart. Battery Point is such a lovely central part of the city with a lot of history and beautiful colonial style buildings. Arthur’s Circus is the centrepiece of this area and the Grand Old Duke is situated right there. You step out of the door and you’re in Arthur’s Circus and also right on Hampden Rd with all the lovely shops, cafes and restaurants. The accommodation itself is wonderful with 4 poster bed, living room, kitchen, bathroom and large bedroom. This time we stayed downstairs in the Wellington suite which is great for couples but upstairs is a 2 bedroom suite which is great for a small family. Highly recommended and we look forward to staying again.

Check in was easy and everything was well prepared. My parents and I stayed at the Cambridge apartment. They stayed at the main room which looked like a living room with a four poster bed while I took the small room where the pantry also is. Heated blankets on all the beds. The toilet/bathroom arrangement was a bit awkward since there's no access to the small room except through the toilet. I unfortunately had to stamp on a little black spider crawling near my bed on the first day, no idea what type it is but there weren't any more since that one (I hope). Had street parking right in front of the house most of the time. Overall a nice stay.

Excellent place to stay.. within walking distance of Salamanca Place. Warm comfortable home with lots of heritage charm. Comfortable beds with bonus electric blankets.. Management a pleasure to deal with. Would definitely recommend.
