Stayed at Brighton Hotel for 6 nights (mid-February)
Context: Booked a standard double room.
Pros:
• Excellent location, half-minute walk to the bustling Nathan Road.
• On the first day, my 12th-floor room faced Nathan Road. The windows weren't soundproof, and the noise was so severe I couldn't sleep. The next day, I requested a room change and was assigned a 10th-floor room facing away from Nathan Road in the afternoon. Although it was near the elevator and service area, the traffic noise issue was resolved.
• Breakfast included fresh milk and cereal, dinner rolls, toast, boiled eggs, apples, and drinks – enough to fill you up.
• During Chinese New Year, there were special holiday promotions for a few days. Staff individually distributed a cup of yogurt (not available on regular days) to each guest, explaining the reason and offering New Year blessings. With so many people having breakfast every day, the staff was truly professional. Given the limited supply, it wasn't self-serve, likely to prevent people from taking too much; the domestic yogurt was treated as something precious.
• Both rooms were very clean, spacious, and well-lit.
Cons:
• The facilities felt like a residential apartment: light switches were by the door, not by the bed, making it inconvenient to turn off the lights.
• The pillow was too high and extremely uncomfortable. When I inquired, I was told there were no other pillows available.
Overall:
The first-day room on the 12th floor faced the elevator. It was the only room on that entire floor facing Nathan Road, bearing the brunt of the noise. All other rooms faced the quieter mountain-back street – I assume this is due to the building's design, and room prices are distributed based on location and size (see image).
I was satisfied with the hardware, but when booking, you must pay attention to the room's orientation. As for the 'software' (service), opinions may vary.
