Azure Hotel - Hualien City

Hualien Sky-Light Hotel is a great hotel with a fantastic vegetarian breakfast, and the rooms are very clean and comfortable. The lobby offers complimentary snacks and drinks, and there's a free laundry room with washers and dryers on the first floor. I look forward to visiting again!

It was quite clean, but the facilities were terrible. Was that a 3-in-1 shampoo, conditioner, and body wash in the bathroom? Is that eco-friendly or just cutting corners? The bath towels were old, stiff, and hard. I could hear the neighbors talking late at night. The front desk staff had a terrible attitude, though she was even ruder to the customer on the phone. The breakfast was very mediocre, with a pathetic amount of fruit and completely unripe watermelon. How did this place get such high ratings? Can the front desk explain if a 200 NTD trinket is enough for a good review?

Stayed here during ***** New Year in Taiwan. The location is right in the city center. There's a designated parking lot for cars, and for scooters, you can just park them against the wall nearby. For Dongdamen Night Market, it's better to take a taxi or scooter; don't walk... Hualien's roads don't really have much space for pedestrians. This time, I stayed in a family room without a bathtub. The room had laminate flooring, not carpet. The beds... were two 'single XL' beds. Although each bed had two pillows, two adults sleeping together couldn't even turn over! The bathroom had great water pressure, which was nice, and body lotion was provided after showering. Nowadays, the shower gel is a 3-in-1, like those 'men's series' that clean you from head to toe... The air conditioning is a central system, and the control panel was very unresponsive and difficult to use! These central ACs all have a common issue: the temperature settings are just for reference. It's colder directly under the vent, and just right further away... The room size was quite generous. Breakfast was vegetarian, with bread, fried eggs, milk, soy milk... basically that's it. We checked in on a Friday, and it was also ***** New Year, so the price was higher at NTD7000 including tax... only to find out on Trip.com the night before check-in that a more premium family room was NTD6500...
