Huangshan Shilin Hotel

The soundproofing wasn’t great, as I could hear noise from outside and even people showering in nearby rooms. However, the breakfast was delicious, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The red jacket provided by the hotel was especially useful—it kept me warm and dry during the rainy weather. The window view wasn’t as good as I expected, and the room was quite small, but the overall cleanliness was acceptable. The room was very warm thanks to the heater, which made the stay comfortable. I had originally booked this hotel to watch the sunrise and sunset from the mountain, but unfortunately, the rainy weather didn’t allow me to experience that, which was a bit disappointing. Considering it’s one of the most affordable hotels at the top of the mountain, it’s still a reasonable choice. The evening performance was creative and enjoyable. I also appreciated that the staff allowed me to check in a bit early and didn’t rush me when I left. Thank you!

I booked a cabana room as a solo traveler. The room was well-equipped and suitable for a one-night stay on the mountaintop. All necessary amenities were provided, and breakfast offered a wide variety of options, mostly Chinese style. Overall, everything was good.

Wanted to see sunrise and sunset on Huangshan Mountain after my trail race nearby, decided to stay on top of the mountain for a night. Booked Shilin Hotel, really enjoyed staying there. Location is great, many scenic places are nearby. Hotel room is warm and clean which made the cold night much enjoyable. Breakfast is fantastic! Special mention of the hotel butler Xiao Ma who has provided great service during my stay in the hotel. She not only provided necessary weather and sunrise / sunset timings, also recommended the places to see and how to get there, even planed the route so to avoid waste of time. Will definitely stay here again if I visit Huangshan in the future.

Hotel room itself was very small, the toilet and shower were in the same room. But the location is in a good spot on the mountain, close to sunrise spots. Although if you don’t want to spend ¥160 on dinner at the hotel, you might have to go a bit far to find something cheaper (ie base of guangmingding). The employees are courteous and the hotel has someone tell you what the weather is like at sunset/sunrise and organizes a group to go see sunset/sunrise together. There are also puffer jackets provided in the rooms so you won’t be cold while waiting. As far as it goes, I was prepared for one night to be very expensive and for the room to be small—you are mainly paying for the being able to stay a night on huangshan, so at least the hotel has quality service.
