Beautiful property, wonderful staff, very generous size rooms, great food, and a very festive atmosphere. The staff here are very highly trained and it shows. From check in with Shona, who was excellent, to the food & beverage staff. This property is beautifully maintained, well run, and a delight to stay at. We stayed at Tiplady Lodge, and this was a good decision for us. Loved the view of the old hall from our room. Very generous proportions in the room. The garden is maintained to perfection. Just a lovely property, especially at Christmas time. We loved our stay here, and would definitely stay again. Definitely visit the Bay horse Inn for dinner if you are staying here as that was excellent also.

From the moment me and my husband walked in the door to the moment we left everything was 100% perfect. Every staff member was brilliant always a smile on their faces and every need was tended to. The room was beyond expectation, the food was absolutely delicious. The only fault I have was my stay wasn’t longer. Thank you so much!!

Weekend treat and yet again a 5 stat breakfast at the Clubhouse Rockliffe Hall. By far the best eggs Benedict and English breakfast around the area. Amazing views to go with the food, you could not ask for a better setting to eat top quality food.

Another amazing stay at Rockliffe. The standard of customer service is outstanding- nothing is too much trouble and every detail is attended to. The food is wonderful and the welcome and kindness of the staff are unparalleled. We stayed for three days celebrating some friends’ golden wedding and it was wonderful. It’s difficult to explain exactly how good the service is until you experience the kindness and care which is shown by every person in the hotel.

We have stayed at Rockliffe a few times and every time has been fantastic however this time a few things have began to slip at this awesome place. Firstly the good… The rooms are spectacular there’s no doubting it they’re large and everything is to the highest standard. The SPA is also superb and very relaxing and was a fantastic get away like it always has been. A few of the negatives was the food in the clubhouse. The starter I ordered was Ham Hock when this arrived it was simply inedible and I mean really poor. I then ordered the Wagyu burger and this was cremated when it arrived and tough. The clubhouse was empty and me and my wife drank 2 Guinness and 2 Malibu and cokes. We paid our bill at the end and thought it looked a bit heavy. We checked the itemised bill as we left to find we’d been charged for 3 lots of drinks totalling £15 extra. Good job we checked. Added to this a service charge of £13 was added and I was asked if I wanted to pay this with the waiter in close proximity how can you say no. The service was OK but nothing extraordinary. I have to say the whole clubhouse experience was very poor and not in keeping with this fantastic hotel. We were then told once the issue with the drinks had been proved that they couldn’t refund us and they had to fill a form in. On check out the next day still no refund could be given and now days later I’m still waiting for the refund. This hotel is so good but in future if I stay here I will not be eating here and will go to the Bay Horse a local pub not far away from the hotel or will simply do a SPA day. The lady on reception did ask if I wanted a manager to contact me in regards these issues but I don’t see what would have changed. The experience is still the experience and we left relaxed but with a slightly sour taste following the clubhouse.

What a wonderful stay. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left we were treated like valued guests, made so very welcome and nothing too much trouble. Having had the most awful few months with care issues for a loved one this overnight stay gave us a chance to unwind, take stock, draw breath and take in the views, enjoy the spa and a fantastic meal in the clubhouse. Breakfast this morning just rounded it all off perfectly. Thank you to an amazing team who 'get' customer service and deliver it brilliantly.

A must stay in the North East. Keith was great driving us around the golf estate and resort grounds in the buggy. A great variety of rooms from old to new, and plenty of food options from fine dining to golf/spa brunches. A really pleasant stay to keep returning to.

A lovely welcome and usually lovely facilities. We spent 1k on a spa day group of 4. March 2024. The main issue was that the hot tub was out of order, usually our groups favourite facility to use. The second disappointing issue was the lack of acknowledgment or goodwill gesture on the day or interaction with the team afterward about the out of order hot tubs. This is our favourite to use usually and we received a reply stating that the rest of the spa was accessible - disappointing. Some other things which we understand but wonder about value (The relaxation room is no more and no footwear is provided - the spa can get really busy with high turnover so this was a down side in our groups view, sustainability is the reason but the price is £200 a person - higher than it’s ever been)

It really was average, especially when compared to other UK spa days. The greeting staff were lovely but we had a few issues: • no slippers (not nice when using the bathroom and not hygienic) • outdoor hot tub was off • only sold champers by the glass, not the bottle, not idea when in a group • the relaxation room is no more I feel that for £200 per person, slippers are what I’d expect. The sustainable message doesn’t really work when you look at the amount of plastic or the fuel needed to run so many saunas and steam rooms. I know others that use flip flops that they reuse after each trip. Or how about a nice little branded pair as a give away? If you are going to take away services and reduce treatments (for 90 mins now only 60) I think you need to look at pricing.
