Arbot Hostel

Average hostel. The rooms were a bit small for three people, but above all the toilets and showers were too few compared to the number of guests. Excellent kitchen and common area, where it is really a pleasure to spend an evening with friends. The location is perfect for exploring the Lake Myvatn area, Dettifoss waterfall and maybe go whale watching in Husavik.

We took a private room with shared bathroom in this hostel. We are not lovers of hostels but it was the only free hotel in the area and in a Nordic country we still expected something spartan but decent. Let's start by saying that our room bordered the shared bathroom (so every two by three we heard the toilet flush) while the only window overlooked the entrance so we always had to stay with the curtains closed. The chilling room: leaving aside the size, the non-blackout red curtains and the ceiling light with only the light bulb visible, the mattresses were broken and we woke up with back pain. Soundproofing non-existent. The shared bathroom has the whole door so every time someone went in or out it felt like someone was being killed. Experience not to be repeated.

La struttura è datata, la cucina è grande con microonde e forno tradizionale e con pochi utensili (padelle, pentole…), la sala da pranzo grande. Alcune camere avevano la porta sulla sala da pranzo e questo ha comportato problemi per alcuni ospiti che sono stati svegliati alle 6.30 da chi faceva colazione. Nel seminterrato c’è una camera molto grande da 8 letti con bagno annesso che ci è stata data come camera quadrupla. La reception è aperta fino alle 21.00, la strada per arrivarci è sterrata ma percorribile da tutti. Attenzione alle indicazioni del navigatore perchè suggerisce di passare per una strada molto sconnessa mentre ce n’è una seconda - sempre sterrata - ma migliore

Une des pires guesthouse de notre périple. Chambre très petite Literie plus que moyenne Beaucoup de mouche (ferme d’élevage de vache ) Pas très propre 2 douches seulement par rapport au nombre de chambre, il y a forcément embouteillage d’autant plus qu’il n y a pas de lavabo dans les chambres. Aussi peu de wc. Embouteillage…😭
