We spent 5 great days at the Victoria Falls River Lodge. We had our room on their little island in the river, which only has 6 villas on it. The stay and the tours were just fantastic. A once in a lifetime experience! With super friendly and knowledgeable staff.

It was Great fun, fantastic game drive experiences. A special thank you to our driver Ashanti and spotter Blessing . The property was very nice and the staff was very friendly . Tge meals were well done whether ordering off menu or buffet for breakfast. The Boma dinner was disappointing due to the food being served family style, we would have preferred to go up and select our own food, buffet style. Better choices and better opportunity to select less fatty cuts of meat and not relying on selection brought to table on a platter, which in our case did not have enough of a selection or quantity . The overall resort was well thought out and great fun. A lot of thought put into everything. I would recommend it, truly a once in a lifetime experience. Special shout out to Melody in reservations for helping it all come together. You will not be disappointed.

It was a drive from Chobe, through Immigration/Customs at the border and to the gates of the National Park. Once our credentials were ‘approved’ we proceeded to the ‘Reception’ area of the Lodge. What we didn’t expect was that that we would change to a pontoon boat for a wonderful trip along the Zambezi River to the Lodge!! What a way to arrive 😉😉. The general open area is wonderful with a large dining area, general lounge area, reception and a small shop. Our accommodation was fabulous with the usual huge tented bed, very comfortable lounge area, ‘kitchen/bar’ area, dressing table and, in our case, a lot of hanging/space with a possible three/four-bed room leading to another toilet and shower. The main bathroom had a huge shower/bath area with two sinks, another toilet, and outdoor shower. A wonderful touch was a chalk board with a Welcome Message from our housekeeper, Judith. Outside was a lovely deck with sun loungers, table, chairs and a plunge pool overlooking the River. The food was excellent as were the wine choices served in the dining room overlooking the Zambezi River. We went out on one safari trip, and two sunset boat cruises with Chips; all of which were wonderful and so great to see the elephants swimming. Then the highlight of our stay … an early morning trip to see Victoria Falls; what an AMAZING experience and, thanks to the team at the Lodge, it was sooo worth it to leave at 6am for fabulous views, amazing rainbows and before other tourists began to arrive. We had excellent massages with Sthr and Gugu and many thanks to Roxanne and her great team for a wonderful stay.

I don’t have the words to describe this beautiful place. I’m Zimbabwean and hadn’t been home in 8 years. I decided to take my 15 month old little human home with me. My anxiety was through the roof! It could go one way or the other, and did not know what to expect. I’m just so glad we chose to stay at the lodge. From the airport pick up I knew we were in safe hands. Every staff member was just so warm, patient and welcoming I felt so overwhelmed by the reception of the team. Chips was ace, such a gentleman, gave a lovely tour to the falls, insisted on pushing the stroller and on hold everything. I learnt so much about Zimbabwe in that time in all my 35 years of existence! Thank you Chips! You just couldn’t put a price on the staff, just priceless. The ladies were just so loving and nurturing towards my little human. The chefs made my little human her milky porridge morning and evening and took time to make her favourite pasta dish and set up her little high chair, that melted my heart! Trying to feed a toddler with a few faces is just overstimulating, they understood, without any problem they would take the high chair to our suite so I could feed her. The accommodation itself was just a dream, it just compliments and blends with nature. Peaceful and serene, you can’t help but hear heaven talk to you. I was so tearful checking out and still so emotional at how blown away I was. It made me a proud Zimbabwean. I don’t think my review does much justice for this gem. Seeing is believing. Heaven does exist on earth and it’s in Zimbabwe’s Victoria Falls River Lodge. Thank you for making it so special for me and my little human! We miss you all already and cannot wait to visit again!

Our guide was Jamie. He impressed us with his excellent English, his enormous knowledge, his friendliness and his commitment to showing us the best places and most interesting animals. The lodge was ideally located in the park and on the Zambesi River. The tents are spacious and very comfortable and offer a direct view of the Zambezi. We would come back at any time.

This hotel was spectacular. We stayed in the treehouse suites and it is truly ranked as one of the best hotels I've ever stayed at. The rooms were incredibly beautiful as was the entirety of the lodging on the island. Our guide, Khetho was amazing. He was so great to talk to, we all were captivated by his knowledge and stories from his years as a guide. I wish we could have spent an entire week here. I will 100% be coming back here to stay. The food was delicious, the best of our whole 2 week trip. TK, the manager, was awesome as was the rest of the staff. Everyone made us feel so taken care of, definitely a 5 star experience.

As the last leg of our honeymoon, my wife and I recently stayed at Victoria Falls River Lodge in the Island Treehouse Suites in November 2023. We’ve never given a review before but felt compelled to share so others don’t make the same mistake. To say we were underwhelmed by the accommodations and experience, from start to finish, is an understatement. Given the cost of over $2k USD a night, we were shocked at the state of the hotel, which felt sadly run down and tired, lacking any semblance of “luxury” that the price tag and hotel marketing would suggest. 1. Limited AC and no AC in the bathrooms: The rooms and bathrooms are true “tree” houses, made entirely of wooden planks that feel almost unfinished. Each room is equipped with one small AC unit that did not adequately cool our room. Because of the small, single AC unit located near the door of the main room, there is no air conditioning in the bathrooms. Temperatures were north of 90 degrees during our visit and given such, it felt well above 100 degrees in our bathroom (and worse once you ran the shower). 2. Limited basic amenities that were half used: The restrooms had low quality shampoo, conditioner and soaps that were half used and there were no basic bathroom amenities such as q-tips, cotton pads, etc. While we appreciate the hotels sustainability efforts, it would have been nice for the hotel to refill the shampoo / soap / conditioner, so you don’t feel as if your using the prior guests seconds. See photo. 3. Very low-quality food: We are not picky eaters but would consider ourselves food lovers. The food served (particularly dinner) was borderline disgusting and particularly upsetting given the 5-star price tag. It felt like a 2 star food offering. See photo below of the cauliflower appetizer (only appetizer available) they served on the first night (picture was "as is" and had not been touched). 4. Bottom shelf alcohol and mixers: When we went to the main bar to have a drink before dinner, they informed us that only bottom shelf spirits were included in our stay (Jose Cuervo I believe was the tequila offering). When asked if they had any fresh fruit juice mixer options (e.g. grapefruit juice, etc) the bartender offered a can of fruit punch or a can of red grape juice. The wine in the room was less than 100 rand (~$5 USD). 5. Room and general accommodations: Overall, both the main area (where you eat, lounge, etc.), bar area, and rooms were very underwhelming and felt dated and weathered. You almost got the sense that the hotel was barely hanging on. The plastic plunge pool in our treehouse villa was filled with dirty water and the plastic lounge chairs on the balcony were broken. See photo. 6. Hotel Staff: The Island Manager and our private guide for Victoria Falls were the one (almost) saving grace. The Island Manager was kind, professional and attempted to be accommodating (offering us an off-island alternative) but we were so dissatisfied with the resort that we declined the

We had the most incredible stay at Victoria Falls lodge. The staff were welcoming from the moment we arrived and looked after our every need. The lodge is beautiful, and we were lucky to experience Elephants in and around the lodge & our rooms. Can't wait to go back.
