Really dissapointed with this hotel. I booked through ******* and then after booking realised that I had booked Easter weekend in April 25. I really needed to change the booking to the week earlier and the only way I could do this was by cancelling my booking as it stood. This I did and then found that I couldn't get the week before and on top of that I was not entitled to a refund (nearly £600). I tried calling the hotel on two occasions but they would not budge at all. ******* tried calling them twice on my behalf but still they would not help. They would not even let me reinstate the dates that we had originally booked. Now I know that this is my fault and I should have looked more carefully on ******* and made sure that the booking was refundable. Despite that the booking is best part of six weeks away and I think they have been totally unreasonable. Be careful how you deal with this hotel and *******!!

The hotel is centrally placed just off the main square ideal for battlefield tours. We had a twin room on the ground floor which was more than adequate for our visit (safe in the room) cleaned daily. Breakfast was standard continental and again supplied our needs. Don’t expect 5 star luxury but worth the cost

This the first time I have rated anything on Tripadvisor with such a low score. If I could have selected zero rather than 1, I would have done so. A one dot rating implies some measure of satisfaction. Our party of three former air force colleagues, booked in for two nights. The only thing that this hotel has going for it is its location on D’Hondstraat just opposite the Cloth Hall and a five minute walk to the Menin Gate. I don’t have the time or inclination to list the poor state of the hotel but suffice it to say that I am amazed that the local hotel inspectors gave it an operating licence - both on Health and Safety and Fire grounds. Other reviews have advised on its shortcomings - the sloping bed remains - a colleague endured that one. My own room had a bathroom with a heater with plug but nowhere to connect it to electricity. I didn’t feel like a customer but more like a prisoner. The food was plentiful but like the freshly brewed coffee it was tasteless. I would go so far as to say that the breakfast on day 1 & day 2 were identical. the meat and the cheese looked as if it had not moved. To be blunt I am surprised that anyone could award this establishment anything other than terrible. I feel bad writing this review bit you should be aware. Caveat emptor!

Probably the most peculiar hotel I've ever stayed in. Feels like it was a lovely house, but then converted to a hotel on a budget. The stairs are an accident waiting to happen, with a sheer drop on one side, the decor is of 'interest'. The main issue had was that the bed was broken, resulting in having to sleep 'down hill' all night. It had clearly been broken before with the fix just to put some insufficient metal brackets in the place, rather than replacing the bed. For the money we paid, we feel completely ripped off. Safer to book the Novotel or Albion next time.

Watch out. If you book through *********** the hotel immediately takes the full charge from your card. At least, that is what happened to me. (I had reserved two rooms for three days and the hotel didn't tell me it had taken the money until I checked out two months later!) The one room on the second floor is up a steep narrow staircase and is virtually inaccessible to anyone who is not pretty fit. And the rooms on the first floor are reached by an unprotected marble staircase which is rather scary. Having paid in full, guests may feel reluctant to go and find somewhere else. I would strongly suggest that if you are going to pay in full on making the booking, you get a guarantee that the room or rooms will be accessible to you

Wow, what can I say about this hotel. I came here on a motorbike and they accommodated me with parking in a secure garage. The owner is a really nice guys and nothing is to much trouble. If you are travelling on a push bike or motorbike then this is the place to stay with the secure underground parking. The breakfast is a continental and is enough. The walk to the town’s square is about 50m away and there are plenty of restaurants to choose. It’s a short walk to the Meinn Gate but it is currently closed until 2025 for refurbishment. The last post still happens but it’s not inside the arch (just outside) you are not able to see the names on the wall. They have currently set a small exhibition right next to the gate explaining what and why they are refurbishing. This is a perfect location for visiting the battlefields The rooms are nice and have a nice small outside seating area.

Stayed here at the end of May and chose the hotel because it's central and close to the Menin gate. Managed to park on the street outside, reception advice was "just find somewhere". Stairs to the first floor are completely open on one side with very narrow treads and in my opinion downright dangerous. I'd hate to have to come down them in the dark or in the event of a fire and I'm surprised they're allowed. Room was general shabby and when I tried to open the wardrobe door if fell off (due to it being held in place with sellotape). We told the guy at reception who said he knew and it had "just happened that day and he hadn't had a chance to fix it and then asked if "he should do something". I told him not to bother and wouldn't surprise me if it's still broken. Breakfast was edible. Would I stay here again? No

Excellent location in Central Ypres. Walking distance from all attractions. This older hotel has character, very clean and well kept, and a good breakfast. Note: contrary to some descriptions, the hotel has NO PARKING, however there is usually street parking nearby.
