"The weather was so hot, we suddenly changed our arrival to Hokkaido later to cool down. However, all the hotels in Lake Toya were fully booked. We chose this one because it looked nice and had good room reviews. The rest is a bit of a bummer.
- The hotel is in a remote location. They said they could pick us up, so we made a reservation three days in advance. We immediately received an automated email saying they would get back to us as soon as possible. However, even after arriving at New Chitose Airport, there was still no reply. So we called, and the communication was even more complicated. They understood what we were saying, but they said they didn't have a reservation. We told them we could check our emails. After a while, they found out they had one and said they would send a car. We were so excited. We just got on the JR train from Minami Chitose when we received a call saying it was after 6:00 PM and the hotel didn't provide a car. This policy seems to have been recently introduced. The first call had told us we had to arrive after 6:00 PM. OK, we accepted it. We arrived at Toya Station. Since GO and DIDI taxis don't work in Toya, thankfully there was a single taxi waiting; otherwise, we wouldn't know how to get to the hotel. Arrived at the front desk, but no one was there. I took off my shoes to look for them. A Vietnamese girl came and checked me in, speaking Vietnamese, Chinese, and Vietnamese via a translator. It took 30 minutes.
At night, the lights wouldn't turn off, leaving me unable to sleep. I called, and they told me to go down to the first floor front desk to fix it. It was pitch dark, and there wasn't a soul there. I got angry and called again. They were so aggressive that someone finally came down.
There's more to this, but I don't want to write about it. Everyone in this hotel has a translator, but it doesn't solve the language barrier. Hotel management needs to improve, or else the guest experience will be terrible."
