"Staying one night at Feilai Temple, choosing Meili Wangshi was absolutely the right decision. Upon arrival, the front desk lady warmly helped us with our luggage and gave us an A4 printout of the parking lot location. She also enthusiastically recommended bookstores and viewing spots we wanted to visit! Photo 1 shows the snacks and mineral water available for guests on the third-floor public area, feel free to take what you need (bottled water is already provided in the room, of course). Photo 2 is a picture of the room taken from the doorway, where you can see the snow-capped mountains through the window. Photo 5 is the telescope, a great tool for viewing the snow mountains. Photo 6 is the Feilai Temple viewing platform, taken from the balcony – essentially, staying at Meili Wangshi is like staying right on the viewing platform. Photo 9 shows the AED outside the hotel, which is one of the few AEDs available in public areas of Diqing Prefecture. Photo 10 shows the breakfast; you can always ask for more if needed, but we found the portion size to be just right! Watching the sunrise over Meili Snow Mountain from your room's balcony or the rooftop terrace offers excellent views!"

"Staying one night in Wunongding was absolutely worth it! We got incredibly lucky and woke up to the most stunning 'Golden Mountain in the Sunlight' view the next morning. Watching the sun slowly illuminate the Meili Snow Mountain was a truly breathtaking experience that you have to see to believe. In that moment, all the travel fatigue just melted away, making the journey completely worthwhile! The hotel's location is fantastic; you can see the snow-capped mountains right from your window, no need to fight for a spot with crowds. The room was clean and comfortable, and it was very quiet at night. In the morning, you can even catch the sunrise right near the hotel. The owner and staff were exceptionally warm and helpful, advising us on the best viewing times and even arranging thoughtful little details. It was a perfect experience. Witnessing the full 'Golden Mountain in the Sunlight' in Wunongding is truly the most unforgettable memory of our Yunnan trip. Five stars, highly recommended!"

"We were incredibly lucky to witness the 'Rizhao Jinshan' phenomenon (golden mountain bathed in sunlight)! The hotel's views are absolutely stunning (just ignore that big crane, haha). You get an unobstructed panorama of all thirteen Meili Snow Mountains. The owner was super enthusiastic; as soon as we arrived, he warmly explained the best ways to view the mountains. After showing us to our room, he even turned on the humidifier, oxygen machine, and floor heating for us. The hotel is very clean, and in the morning, you don't even need to go down to the observation deck; you can simply watch the snow-capped peaks from your balcony. The hotel thoughtfully provided large, thick blankets, which was a very nice touch."

"Modern beautiful hotel with a full view of meili snow mountain. located right next to the official viewing deck! staff were welcoming - provided us tea upon arrival, brought us to our room and allowed us to choose between 2 views since there was space! they also helped us navigate the room, how to use the various amenities like the humidifier and oxygen machine. toiletries were fully provided for! the night time sweet soup was also soothing to have. these rooms I believe have no air con but it worked for us as the weather was very cool. the option for a heater was there. breakfast had a choice of 2 types of noodles, and a little buffet bar, with a great view too! overall recommend this space for a stay!"

"I hesitated for a long time before I went to Feilai Temple. I didn't know if I should live in the foggy top or Feilai Temple. I finally considered that there may be fog in the rainy season in Yunnan. I chose this Feilai Temple hotel and looked forward to seeing part of the snowy mountains. In addition, there is also a factor to choose here. I want to avoid a problem in many hotels in Feilai Temple. It is a bit of an eye-catching crane in the scenery. Living here far exceeds expectations. First of all, there will be a thoughtful and intimate service. There will be a housekeeper who will pick us up. Sister, help us with our luggage, I drove the car from the station to the hotel quickly. The fruit plate was very fresh and the raisins were delicious! In the afternoon, I went to the hotel to eat afternoon tea and watch the scenery. As the clouds flow, I really saw the snow-capped mountains. I was so lucky! The hotel also has a complimentary photo service, three photos per room, and you can take pictures after choosing Tibetan clothes. It is very popular. The room is fully equipped, floor heating + diffuse oxygen supply + humidifier, and spare nasal straws. We lived in the ancient city of Dukezong the day before and it was a little high. We didn’t sleep well at night. It felt very good when we arrived here. If the physique is very sensitive, I feel a little stuffy. You can open a little window a little bit, it will not be cold. 😍 If the next itinerary has not been set, the parents of the same group said that they still want to stay for a day or two 🌹"

"Amenities: They provide heated blankets and a graphene heater, which was a lifesaver since it was snowing the day I visited. Without them, I probably wouldn't have been able to sleep. If it's going to be really cold, I'd suggest booking a place with floor heating, as this one doesn't have it. Location: It's not too far from the viewpoint, but there's a building under construction diagonally across the street, which slightly impacts the view. The rooftop has its own viewpoint with several tripods available for use. Service: There's no elevator, and even though we had luggage, no one offered to help us carry it up."

"Cozy place with a warm hospitality. Sharing this for the benefit for other guests; However, do note that currently, the road up to yubeng village is undergoing maintenance hence we'd need to hike a brutal 16km up from ninong carpark. The distance from lower yubeng to upper yubeng is another 2.3km uphill. Fortunately, there are pick up cars which can pick you up from rest stop 2 to upper yubeng (which i've only found out from one of the kind staff when i arrived), which means you can take a pick up truck down to rest stop 2 if you would like to conserve energy for other hikes at the yubeng village. Please feel free to enquire with the friendly staff! Breakfast variety could also be improved instead of only 米线... Would be good if coffee could be served for breakfast too..."

It was beautifully decorated, spotlessly clean, with shiny floors that came out clean after wiping with a wet wipe. It was also close to the Feilai Temple viewing platform. It was the only guesthouse I didn't leave a positive review upon check-out. The breakfast was also delicious."

GGuest UserService: The butler contacted us a day before to confirm our arrival time. Since we were arriving late in the evening, they thoughtfully arranged for afternoon tea to be delivered to our room. We had two rooms booked for two nights, and they upgraded us to the Muyun King Room. Due to a sudden change in plans and a family emergency, we had to cancel one night, and the hotel staff handled the cancellation very smoothly. Cleanliness: Very clean. Face towels and toilet seat covers were provided. Environment: The hotel faces the Meili Snow Mountain directly. We enjoyed two days of the 'golden sun illuminating the mountain' and also saw a beautiful starry sky. Both our room and the terrace offered views of the snow-capped mountains. Facilities: The humidifier, in-room heating, oxygen supply, and electric heater all worked great.

The guesthouse is a reconstruction of the owner's original home, and I was immediately struck by its beauty upon entering: the Western-style staircase paired with ******* paintings was exquisite and beautiful! The rooms were even more beautiful and comfortable than the pictures showed, mainly due to the attention to detail, including the tea corner, the automatic sensor lights in the bathroom, and the copper sink. This guesthouse offers excellent value for money, comparable to well-known hotels costing nearly a thousand yuan. It's truly a hidden gem. The guesthouse's large terrace is just a short distance above a bend in the Jinsha River, offering stunning views! I'll definitely stay here again on my next trip to Yunnan and Tibet!

GGuest UserSince we came from Yubeng Village and didn't rent a car, the hotel's location was indeed much more suitable for self-driving. Fortunately, the hotel accommodated these inconveniences. The hotel was renovated from an abandoned elementary school, but the overall feel is like a designer's new creation. The amenities were excellent. In addition to the essentials, there was a tea table by the large window facing the mountains. The bed was large, and our room wasn't arranged side by side, but rather one side by one, which was quite unique and even involved a fight over it. The laundry service was thoughtful, and they even delivered goodnight milk in the evening. I also commend the breakfast, which offered both Chinese and Western options. It was one of the most comfortable and freshest breakfasts I've had in Yunnan these past few days, and the Western dishes were very satisfying. The hotel is located in a village group of only eight households, a quiet place with both activity and tranquility. The villagers are simple and shy, and after a walk, I joined them in circumambulating the Buddhist scriptures. Nearby are the Baima Snow Mountain, perfect for hiking, the Niding Line, perfect for children, and numerous wineries. The town itself is famous for the story of a French grandmother. Driving on your own is definitely more enjoyable, but mountain roads require some driving skills. Time is limited, so I'll definitely make up for this regret next time I drive on my own.

I'd stayed at Tengchong Podu before and found it rather ordinary, but this time I finally decided to go for the Meili route. The 4-hour drive from Shangri-La wasn't short, but the moment we arrived in Wunongding – it was totally worth it! 🤍 🌄 Environment We stayed in the White Pagoda Room. Although it didn't face directly onto the main peak of Kawagebo, the window view was still tranquil and therapeutic. Wunongding is quiet with few people. In the morning, drinking hot tea on the balcony and watching the clouds drift among the mountains brought such peace to my mind. 🍰 Snow Mountain View Afternoon Tea for Two I never expected to find such photo-worthy and delicious afternoon tea at such a high altitude! The pastries were exquisite, and the coffee was surprisingly good. Just staring at the snow-capped mountains, taking photos, and sipping tea – it was the ideal vacation scene! 📸 🛌 Room Experience The complimentary snacks and drinks in the minibar were plentiful. They even thoughtfully provided a large cloth bag, fearing we couldn't carry everything. The room was warm and clean, and bathing while enjoying the mountain view was absolutely divine. In the evening, we immersed ourselves in making ******* incense and painting Thangkas, truly experiencing ******* culture. Time here became soft and precious. 💁 Service with Full Attention to Detail Upon entering, we were presented with a Hada (ceremonial scarf) and welcome tea. The service throughout was warm yet restrained. When we checked out, the front desk gave us a prayer wheel and handmade soap. Leaving with such blessings, it felt less like staying at a hotel and more like being a guest at a friend's home for two days. ZZhixiao-The room was fantastic, with a balcony directly overlooking the snow-capped mountains. They thoughtfully provided two foot bath tubs. We were quite tired upon arrival at the village, and soaking our feet completely refreshed us, making us ready to head straight to the glacial lake the very next day – what a thoughtful touch! The chicken soup noodles were delicious, and the packed lunch they provided for our journey was great too. The resident cat was adorable!

Opening the window revealed a stunning view of snow-capped mountains and a sea of clouds – the romantic snowy scenery was just breathtaking. The room was cozy and clean, with plenty of oxygen, so I didn't have to worry about altitude sickness at all. Just sitting on the balcony quietly watching the snow was so therapeutic and lovely. The service was incredibly attentive, and even though it's located at high altitude, the stay was absolutely fantastic. Highly recommend it!

AAnonymous UserThey say you might not see the ”Golden Mountain in the Sun” in October, so I booked this place to avoid wasting money on a view that might not deliver. Turns out, we actually saw it! Super worth it!! The location is right next to where the bus drops you off, so it's a very easy walk, and close to the Feilai Temple viewing platform. The room was unbelievably spacious, and the underfloor heating worked perfectly. There are only four or five rooms, and the view is absolutely stunning. The owner is very simple and enthusiastic. I highly recommend this for anyone hoping to catch the Golden Mountain but worried about a wasted 4-hour drive if they miss it. The accommodation quality is easily more than triple that of other scenic hotels at the same price point, and the courtyard itself can help ease any disappointment if you don't see the sunrise. Let's talk about the downsides: 1. Feilai Temple is currently under construction, so there are large vehicles at night. I personally wasn't bothered by the noise, but I can't guarantee others wouldn't be. This seems to be a common issue for hotels along this road. 2. The room was very clean and tidy, but I wasn't a fan of the air freshener scent. My partner didn't notice it, though. 3. There were some really large flies. I hope the owner can improve pest control. Although they'll probably freeze to death in a few days, seeing them definitely puts a damper on the mood.

GGuest UserMy room was as described. Functional and nice and warm (with heating on) with an excellent hot shower and nice wooden wall beams. The people who run the place are lovely and also offer nice breakfast options in the morning. The only small note I have is that (despite best efforts and a very modern ventilation system in the bathroom) the bathroom is already moldy. I understand that it's a challenge to get under control given the climate. I would stay again next time, and actually spend more than just one night here. There is so much you can explore here!

The bed heater comes in very handy and the showers are hot. The wifi signal is good. The dogs and cats are cute. With regards to where to improve, my suggestions below: 1. It is quite hard to find the place - the name is slightly different on Amap compared to Trip.com and as it’s a small village the roads don’t exactly match up with the map. Some signage would really help as other hotels have done. When you’ve been hiking for 5 hours and are tired you need some clear direction! 2. The owners have quite a relaxed and casual attitude to hospitality and I think they could do more to make you feel welcome. It is more of a homestay than a hotel - the common area doubles as the owners living space, and while the owners go about their day (eating, playing on phone, de-fleaing their cats) it can on occasion feel like you are intruding upon their space. A little hospitality would go a long way - a smile or acknowledgment when you enter the room, the offer of a hot drink on arrival or a warm welcome after your long hike to the village for example. 3. I think the above is especially true for foreign guests- I can speak and read some Mandarin so was able to get by, but it would be difficult if you had no understanding of the language and the hosts are not particularly forthcoming with help or information. This stands out as everywhere else we have been in China hosts have been so hospitable and willing to help - translation apps are so useful here. Just a simple one pager of what you offer, the menu, kitchen hours etc translated into English is my suggestion! 4. There is absolutely no soundproofing in the room. You can hear every footstep, whisper and noise from the adjoining rooms - if you are a light sleeper you will wake up. I would really recommend that this is addressed for guests’ peace! 5. Install one non-squat toilet in the shared bathroom area, so guests who aren’t used to these can use another type of toilet! Unfortunately, there is still quite a bit of construction going on around but there’s nothing that the hosts can do about that - it is everywhere in the village. We weren’t lucky enough to experience good weather while we were there but I have no doubt the views would have been incredible!

The room provides a great view of the mountains with floor to ceiling windows and everything in the room, including the bed, chairs, clothes rack and bathroom, are well-maintained and clean. The room provides a sense of luxury and cleanliness during your getaway to this village. The location is excellent, as you are one of the first, if not the first accommodation facing the mountains, so the view is excellent. It is in a great location for exploring upper yubeng and the glacier lake. What made our stay unforgettable was the amazing service we received by the owner and staff whilst we stayed here. The lady provided us with everything we needed to know during our stay in yubeng, including sunrise times, and answered any and every question we had about yubeng as a whole. They provided an atmosphere that was very welcoming and it really does feel like I was invited to stay at their home. They provided free water and free laundry service, as well as free use of hiking poles for our hikes. The breakfast included was excellent and was different for each day we stayed, and they provide you with a free lunch pack to take on your hike, which was a nice gesture which we appreciated. Additionally, everyone here speaks both mandarin and cantonese, so if you're travelling from Guangdong or Hong Kong and would like to feel at home, this is the perfect place to be. Overall, this was an amazing accommodation to stay at due to the amazing service, location and facilities and the owner and her family really do treat you like family. I would highly recommend staying here, and if I ever come back to yubeng, I will definitely stay here again!
