"Located in the heart of the old city, the Shihe Hotel occupies a vast area with an extravagantly large parking lot. Staying here feels like stepping back into the 1990s municipal government guesthouse; a plaque at the entrance even reads ”Shihe Hotel Militia Company,” though I forgot to take a picture, which gives you an idea of the hotel's former prestige. Although it's a three-star hotel, it lives up to its reputation as a long-established hotel. The location is excellent, and the facilities are still complete, though a bit dated. However, the price-performance ratio is quite high; the room rate is reasonable, and parking is convenient and free. It would be even better if breakfast were included. Next door, there's a large sports field open to the public, where many people run, play ball, and exercise. The nearby Shihe Park is also very lively, making it very convenient for sightseeing in Xinyang."

The room was spacious, and the separate wet and dry areas were a thoughtful touch. "Traveling with a pet, this place was perfect. The hotel environment is lovely, and the room was spacious – my cat absolutely loved it and felt very relaxed. The room was well-equipped, clean, and hygienic. The TV's screen mirroring was convenient, and the tea area was very roomy. There's a pedestrian street nearby, making dining very easy, and a large supermarket for all your needs. It was an excellent pet-friendly stay.
P.S. My cat developed a peculiar fondness for the sink, constantly intrigued by the sound of the draining water."

"The room was excellent and clean. We particularly enjoyed the great breakfast and excellent afternoon tea, not to mention the welcome fruit. The surroundings were lovely, and the service was good overall.
However, the WiFi was terrible; it kept disconnecting and eventually stopped working altogether.
When I tried to call for children's slippers at 10:30 PM, no one answered the phone.
The elevators had no fan or air conditioning.
Exiting the parking lot was inconvenient as we had to call the front desk to be let out, a detail we weren't informed of during check-in. This is definitely an area for improvement."

"The staff is very pleasant and listening. I had not enough soap and the hosts gave me more immediately (small single dose bag). I even had a problem with my fan late in the evening and she was very reactive and resolved the problem quickly. I was in a single room without window with a shared bathroom, but it was because the bathroom was shared with only one other person. The hotel is just next to a lot of restaurants which is easy to find food. I strongly recommend!"

"The location is located in the city center, not far from the night market and shopping malls. It was very comfortable from the beginning of entering the hotel, and every employee at the front desk was very patient. Then in terms of privacy, you must swipe your card to go upstairs, and the takeaway has a robot to deliver to the room, which is very intimate. The hotel environment is clean and hygienic. This sofa has won my heart. The girls are very makeup and it is convenient to put things. The parking security guard at the door will also patiently guide. "Overall a great stay. From booking to check-out, every link was smooth. When checking in online, I noted that I had to have a high floor and a quiet room. After I arrived, I found that all the needs were met. The room was meticulously cleaned, the bedding was as white as new, and the bathroom had no water stains. The dishes in the restaurant are stable, and the waiter remembers the seat preference of each guest. The cooperation between the staff is very tacit, and I can feel that this is a well-trained and well-managed team. A good hotel can really add a lot to the journey. The front desk service is very good and the people are warm and professional. I will choose here next time."

I have been to the hotel for 2 nights and i was shocked by how perfect it was. The hotel is very clean, i booked the smallest room but for one person with the price it was perfect. It had air conditionning and many things such as razor, tooth brush, towels … The best thing of the hotel is the boss, the boss is so nice, he gave me a breakfast, bring me at the restaurant close to the hostel, since my chinese is terrible he helped me with everything. I really recommand to speak to the boss because he is so nice. The best boss i met in China. Around the hotel you have the lake walk wich is 2 hours return, and its very beautiful and relaxing. The boss rent scooter in case you need it too.
I totally recommand this hotel and i can comeback in the city just to sleep there and see the boss.

A large shopping centre (Wanda Plaza) is next door with a huge array of Chinese franchised food outlets alongside KFC and Starbucks. A good spread of affordable to prestige clothing brands as well. Many empty shops, though, point to economic stresses in this market.
The breakfast is standard Chinese hotel fare so if you're expecting a range of gourmet cereals and breads you'll be disappointed.
Turning to the room itself.
No room clock and a huge television screen that turns on every time you put your key in the slot are minor annoyances. The television screen has no apparent access to audio-visual inputs which seems a wasted opportunity to me. I want to watch my own media on the television screen.
The room is a good size and quite quiet. The bed was firm but not hard. Blackout curtains work well and windows can be partially opened. I observed that any non-smoking regulation was not observed by all guests. Perhaps in the major markets that's more enforced.
There is no laundry service as far as I could tell.
The shower stall is my main concern and this might apply only to my room. The drain is VERY slow and the recess quickly fills with water. The floor is flat, so water does not naturally flow to the drain, leaving the shower recess always wet and a potential mould hazard.
No complaints from me about the lack of staff who speak English. This is a new hotel catering mainly to Chinese travellers. While I have some concerns about the standard of building construction finish I can't fault the staff for their attentiveness and friendliness. If the location suits you the value is obvious.
Note that guest rooms are on floors 18 and 19 so expect to spend some time waiting for the slow lift.

jason paceyThe hotel was great clean and no smell of smoke in room (hard to find in china) staff were lovely, only a couple of negatives i wanted to point out for western travelers theres a little faulse advertising on their page, theres no english speaking staff, theres no cafe and the coffee machine in lobby looks amazing and inviting but there was never milk in it over the two days i was there and finding a good coffee in china is sooooo hard also not the staff fault at all but the room soundproofing isnt amazing no street noises but can definitely hear toilet and shower of the next room

The sparrow is small and well-equipped. Opening the window, I was greeted by a breathtaking panoramic view of the Huanghe River! A stroll along the riverbank, with a gentle spring breeze, was a rare and delightful experience! A small bridge leads to Xin County Square, the heart of the county!
