The streets in the old city are narrow, while the new city has many modern buildings. In the upper stream of Kinta River, the SK Coronation Park was built in honor of the King George V. However, the most famous attractions are the cave temples in the suburbs, including the Perak Cave Temple, Sam Poh Tong Temple, and Nam Thean Tong Temple, etc. Hotels in Ipoh can be found near these attractions.

The Perak Cave Temple is located in the north of Ipoh and is built on a mountain. In the cave is a sitting statue of Gautama Buddha, which is 13 meters high and is probably the largest Buddha statue in Malaysia. Sam Poh Tong Temple was built in commemoration of Zheng He, and is located in the southern suburbs of Ipoh. Nowadays, a magnificent Buddhist temple has been built here around the mountains, with pavilions, bridges and rivers in front of the cave.

Taman Negara was originally known as the King George V National Park. This national park is 4,343 kilometers squared and one of the oldest tropical rainforests in the world. The region has a history of over 1.3 million years. The animals and plants in the forest are untouched by humans and still remain in their original state.
