Hermitage Resort & Thermal Spa

This was my first visit to the Hermitage but I don't think it will be my last. The room was very well decorated and well thought out as we're the communal areas, the restaurant also followed this model and the staff in the spa could not have done more to make me feel "a casa". Breakfast was among the best I've ever seen in a hotel with a vast array of products available including sweet items which changed daily, dinner was good and I did eat in the hotel every night. I did find the process of ordering the next night's dinner while I was having dinner at the night before slightly offering but it did make things easier from a certain perspective and I appreciate that the hotel are looking not to waste more than they have to, which is commendable. The hotel is situated in quite a quiet part of Ischia, although it's only 10 to 15 minutes walk into the busier part of the town, that are also a few shops and whatnot near the hotel itself and between what the hotel has to offer (including its pools and spa and food and drink offerings) as well as those close by it really is a great place to get away from it all and enjoy the Ischian lifestyle.

We spent 2 lovely weeks in this beautiful hotel in May. We absolutely loved the warm Italian atmosphere! The hotel personnel were very friendly and helpful. Our warmest thanks to all of them! We had breakfast and dinner and we enjoyed all the meals. Italian food was so delicious and we loved cappuccinos and cocktails, too. The personnel in the restaurant and in the bars were just amazing and we enjoyed such warm-hearted service. The view from our room was breathtakingly beautiful and the room was very clean and comfortable. We found the location very nice and peaceful. We loved our little walks to Ischia Ponte and Ischia Porto. We enjoyed the outdoor pools and the spa on a rainy day. Hope to see you all soon again!

A nice hotel but quite dated. The room was clean but the pool areas were not. Overall it was an okay stay but we would not return.

This is a lovely sized hotel, in a relatively good location. The positives: We had half board. The breakfast and evening meal options were excellent. As an English couple, the breakfast was very continental. So if you want anything hot for breakfast, stay elsewhere. The evening meals were fantastic but the portions could be small for some! The menu was very italian. Lovely food. The swimming pools were great and clean. The thermal pool was particularly nice. The room was fine and the air conditioning was excellent. The negatives: There was very little information from the hotel about attractions, excursions or use of local transport options such as buses. Some hotel staff were knowledgeable and helpful, some less so. So Google was essential. Although the food was great I didn't expect to pay for water with my evening meal. This adds an unexpected expenses. Not good. When I tried to get tap water, this wasn't available! The shower in our room was poor. Terrible. Just about worked. OK, enough to have a shower but for a 4 star hotel, I expect a good shower that works correctly. The WiFi was ok but not available in our room! So if you want to plan and pay for excursions, this has to be done through mobile data or finding a spot in the hotel grounds. This is compounded by the lack of holiday information in the hotel. The hotel's beach isn't a beach, it's a very small sandy platform near the water. Not great. Overall we enjoyed our stay but if not for a few negatives this would have been a five star experience.

After reading some of the reviews of this hotel I was slightly concerned about what I might encounter for my week long stay here with extended family. I needn't have worried. From the service to the food, the cleanliness to the warm welcome, this is a great hotel which enjoys an excellent location for exploring the local area too. We ate dinner and breakfast every day of our stay - the food was excellent and the breakfast spread, in particular, was impressive. The barista serving delicious fresh coffee to order was a welcome surprise! The hotel has two pools - one with a good bar and service - the lower one with an excellent view over the area to the castle and port. I really can't fault it - great for families and couples; highly recommended.

Heaving read previous reviews I was worried about what to expect. The room was down several steps of stairs, which meant I was reluctant to return to my room unless I really needed to but the room was bright and airy with a view of the tennis courts and gardens. (I was expecting a “dungeon experience” after reading previous reviews) so was pleasantly surprised. The room was lacking a kettle, as I would have liked to be able to make a coffee or sterilise equipment. Towels were replaced daily which wasn’t necessary and better environmentally if we got to choose when they were replaced. As a Vegan couple, we were worried about what would be on offer and having to survive on food that we bought with us (lots of choc au pains) which we didn’t eat many of. Breakfast had a variety of breads, vegan friendly Marge and a variety of jams. There was always fresh fruit, tinned peaches and granola to enjoy. There was a choice of soya milk or rice milk to have with cereal too. The staff were friendly and the coffee was great. Toast was available on request and tomatoes were available. The food available at the poolside was not suitable for vegans, or at least no vegan option on the menu. The food we saw others getting looked really nice but was expensive as portion sizes were enormous. We didn’t ask for anything vegan, instead going to the shop nearby. Dinner was served quite late, from 8pm which would be really hard for younger families. It was often past 9:30 by the time we got to dessert which meant hard on the digestion before bed. As every meal was usually a 4 course meal, we were interested to see what the vegan option would be. Not every course was to our tastes as my partner dislikes tomatoes and quite a lot of veg. We took the view that with four courses, we could pick and choose what we wanted without going hungry. The starters were often grilled veg, olives or salad or focaccia (my favourite). Mains were risotto, pasta, soup. Seconds included schnitzel with rosemary roasted baby potatoes, tofu etc. every day was very different and we particularly enjoyed our waiter trying to explain what we were having, with him really struggling at times to put it in to English. Our waiter was lovely, and amused as he tried to work out what we could have. His English was good, but translating vegan menus was quite challenging. The first few days of arrival were harder as it was clear they hadn’t had time to think about a vegan menu and what could be done, but as the week went on, the service was much faster and menu had been planned in advance. the food was amazing and we felt well cared for. I was put off buying wine as the wine menu was so expensive. At 25 euros a day, over the week the bill would have been 175 euros to have a bottle of wine with each meal, then a further 3 euros a day for a bottle of water. The cost of wine at the local shop was only 1.80 euros, so we were better off having wine before dinner and just buying a glass each for the meal, wh

Looking at the reviews I was a little worried. But it was a fantastic hotel . Food was fabulous 👌. The staff were lovely . Room was big bed was massive. Lovely big wardrobes and plenty of draw space . The pools were lovely 😍. I would recommend this hotel to everyone. We had lovely walks to ischia porta and ischia punta . Taxi were a good price . We had lots of aperol spirtzers at the hotel

We booked with TUI. Big mistake. No rep in ischia and no information re pick up times. TUI app not working. Would not recommend hotel for people with poor mobility. Too many steps down to one of pools and pavements outside the hotel where narrow and uneven. Had to walk in road due to inconsiderate drivers who parked on pavement. There was no instructions re hotel in the room. TV had no English channels. No fire instructions in room. Balcony was glass paneled and unsafe to lean on. The gin bar was open. Could only get drinks from pool bar. Wine and drinks were too expensive. We went to local supermarket to buy drinks and water. You have too book the indoor spa pool. Spa treatment too expensive. The pools were lovely and clean and plenty of beds. The room was clean and maid called in every day. The breakfast was cold. Couldn't always get boiled egg. No toast. But coffee was good. Evening meal was hit and miss. You had to choose your meal for the next day every evening at dinner. The restaurant staff were very good but spoke limited English. Marco on the reception was excellent always willing to help if you had a problem. The gardens at the hotel were lovely and the views where amazing. Location of the hotel was good even though it was located on top of a hill. Public transport nearby and it was reasonably priced.

Having read the last review, we were very concerned about our stay which we had already paid for. We have now arrived and are delighted with the hotel. The gardens and pool areas are well kept and immaculate; the staff have been friendly and helpful; breakfast this morning had a lovely offering- no fried eggs and bacon, but delicious home made breads, cereal, cakes, boiled eggs and cold meats, and freshly made coffees available. Our room has a beautiful outlook, good air conditioning and a very comfy bed. There are no small bottles of toiletries but I admire the commitment to less wastage and the shower has a refillable shower/shampoo bottle with high quality organic ingredients. The hotel is within walking distance of the main port area, and there are plenty of taxis for anyone not wanting to walk. In all, the offering is unrecognisable to the bad review I was naive enough to take notice of and I would gladly return to the Hermitage Resort.
