Hotel Da Maria

A beautiful hotel set in an idyllic location. We came here on our honeymoon and had a wonderful time. The hotel staff were lovely and we were made to feel very comfortable and welcome throughout our stay. The room was beautiful, with views overlooking the castle, the little beach and Mount Vesuvius in the distance. The en-suite bathroom was a good size with an amazingly powerful shower. We ate in the hotel restaurant a couple of times. Most dishes are seafood based and also rabbit is an Ischian speciality. It was very easy to book a water taxi from the hotel to take us round to Ischia Ponte, a very short journey of 5 minutes, and we made use of this service most days. If you are staying at the hotel it costs €3 each per journey. Ischia Ponte is beautiful, lively and bustling with plenty of bars, shops and restaurants. We visited the castle one day which was very interesting and well worth it. We went to Ischia Porto a couple of times, which is bigger than Ischia Ponte, again with lots going on. One day we took a ferry from Ischia Porto to Naples to spend the day there. It took about 1 and a half hours to get there on the ferry, which was easy to book. Well worth a visit if you have time, but lovely to get back to the island after a day in the very busy city. We loved everything about our holiday in Ischia and would highly recommend the Da Maria hotel.

Fantastic experience in a beautiful family-run hotel. The staff went out of their way to help us during our stay. The boat trip to the hotel takes a few minutes and adds to the charm but it’s worth noting that bad weather can mean a 5 minute walk from the road down/up a hill. We will definitely stay again.

The perfect place for a beach vacation; a hotel with its own beach and restaurant, both excellent, with a room with a stunning view over the ocean and the Castello Aragonese, and very good and personable service. You can't really get anywhere from the hotel except by boat, but then there isn't much need to go anywhere. And if there is, the by boat part is actually very easy, constantly available and cheap boat taxi and a few minutes trip to town. The only little thing is that due to the big mountain next to it, the beach will lose the sun at about 5.30 pm. However, the swimming pool area and the terrace bar will extend the availability of the evening sun.

Even before we arrived at the Hotel da Maria I knew it was going to be good as all communication with the hotel with Alessandra had been clear and concise. All our expectations were met on arrival, our sea facing room was immaculate with the added benefit of a lovely balcony. The reason we chose this hotel in the first place is that we love the beach and we were not disappointed with sun loungers and umbrella included in the hotel price. In addition the hotel had the additional benefit of a swimming pool which we also made use of. All the staff were super friendly which you would expect in a family run hotel. We will definitely be looking to go back sometime in the future. Thank you Maria for a beautiful holiday.

The hotel itself was OK and in a great location The restaurant on site where you are rather trapped. Was very disappointing. I ordered spaghetti with clams for 18 euros and there was a huge plate of spaghetti and half a dozen clams. When I complained to the manager I was told that it was normal and there was no offer made to give me a few more clams.

We loved our stay here. Our only regret is we only stayed here 3 nights. Food: This has to come first. We thought we would eat once at the hotel restaurant, but ate here three times in our three days and wish we had eaten here more. My wife does not like shellfish but their spaghetti with muscles was her favorite dish in Italy. I had never eaten rabbit but had the bucatini coneglio twice, it was my favorite dish on our trip. Room: we had very nice a room with a balcony overlooking the ocean. 2 minute walk from our room to the beach. Simple. But we spent all of our time on the beach or on the balcony so no complaints. Location: was a little nervous that we were a bit off the beaten path but loved the location in Cartaromana Beach. We could always get on Angelo's water taxi into town, which comes every ~20 minutes as he's ferrying people to the beach/restaurant. The beach is great, very calm. Our first day was a Sunday and it was very busy, not just with all the chairs taken, but a large number of boats anchored offshore. Obviously this is a desirable location to vacation but it did seem like the volume affected the water quality. The rest of the days there were much less boats and the water was beautiful. Service/staff: Alessandra was very helpful and very patient. With us. We wanted to go to the Negombo thermal park, but she cautioned us it was too late in the day to enjoy it, so she helped us reserve a scooter for the next day, and helped us book chairs at the park (She also helped us with like 10 other things). During one of our meals at the restaurant, a few young people wanted in, and it became obvious they were old staff who were returning to say hi. Everyone in the kitchen came out and greeted them, and the people visiting obviously thought fondly enough to return and say hi. The two guys who work the beach area are always playing tricks on each other. And Angelo's frequently ducking in and out saying hello. Left us feeling like the whole place- hotel, restaurant, beach, water taxi- is really special.

We arrived at the port to a gorgeous sunny town and instantly loved ischia busy but not over crowded or too much very classical Italian feel and friendly. We boarded a no 7 bus straight off the ferry only 2euro down to ischia ponte by the castle (very easy and you can't miss the bus terminal and ticket office...just stay on the bus till you see castle). We then took the taxi boat from the pier again easy to find and gave hotel name then straight onto the boat which was wonderful. Sunny and fresh with Amazing views. We were dropped off at the beach with the hotel obviously in front of us. The steps up to the reception from the beach are cobbled and very steep and a lot of them. Can be tricky if you struggle with walking or carrying luggage. However once at the top we arrived at the entrance to a beautiful hotel. We were welcomed and given all info needed for our stay. Then we were shown to our room...Wow. we spent ten minutes literally wowing and in awe of the view and the setting. It's truly a magical place. Our room had dual aspect doors and a huge balcony surrounding two sides of the room with sea views that are unreal and views to the castle. We had a glorious few days here we loved the pool the breakfast was perfect and sitting on the sun terrace looking out to sea eating each morning was simply stunning. The beach was also great but very busy at the weekend. The bathroom is fine however the shower is above the toilet so the room gets wet but the shower itself was really powerful and good. It didn't affect us at all that the room was wet either but I see ppl have mentioned it in other reviews. In our opinion it really didn't matter. We had fresh towels each day and the room cleaned. This place is wonderful. The taxi boat took us to dinner in ischia ponte on one evening and runs till midnight ...it's safe and cheap (3 euro each) and a fabulous way to get around this idyllic place. We fell in love with ischia ponte and David Maria. Thank you so so much we WILL most definitely be returning.

What we liked the most about this hotel was the location with most beautiful views. If you want something different on your next trip, then you should consider a memorable stay in da Maria and you will not be disappointed, as the the hotel provides its visitors a place to find a balance with nature and enjoy a pleasant and unforgettable rest.

Our stay at the hotel was wonderful. All the staff were welcoming and very friendly and went out of their way to help us and make our stay enjoyable. Alessandra in Reception was especially helpful and the other receptionist stayed much later than usual, as we were very late arriving. The hotel arranged trips by water taxi and transfers to and from the ferry, making for stress free travel. Food and service in the Ristorante Da Maria was very good, we loved the beach, breakfast on the terrace and wonderful views. Our room was spotless and we were offered use of hotel facilities the day we checked out, which allowed us more time in the pool and on the beach, before we checked out. A perfect break - just wish we could have stayed longer!
