Quiet, attentive staff matched the austere, arid surroundings. Lodgings and amenities were glamp-safari level. Food was accessible and beyond the U.S. private retreat level. Meals were highly accessible, oscillating between a la carte and buffet. Even skipping the fruits, vegetables and anything potentially washed in local water, we were hardly foraging, and never felt even slightly underfed, or in need of any little extra when we returned to our tent. Outside the hotel’s main gates were tropical birds, abundant varieties of ungulates, pachyderms!, giraffes, baboons, wart hogs, Grevy’s zebras, the entire world of which a competent, informed, land rover-equipped guide can and will be delighted to showcase to guests. Inside there were a few mischievous vervet monkeys kept at bay by ever-active staffers and an on-site Samburu tribesman. Couples tents contained amazing wood floors throughout, two four-poster single berths at the frontside flanks, with mosquito netting; in the middle: dressing and storage space; at the rear: toilet and shower sandwiching a double-sink vanity. The tent is encased in durable fabric and insect proof netting, which one can roll-and-zip up or down, depending on one’s levels of preference in the air-circulation and insulation departments. The turn-down service was professional, yet cozy, exceeding the echelons of any concomittant regimen I have experienced.

We are here with family, two adults, two kids, two nights. Great Location and very good food! Our waitress Anastacia was perfect! The tents are very comfortable and clean. The showers a dream after successful gamedrives. So far my favorite spot in Kenya

I first stayed at Samburu Intrepids in 2018, and had such a wonderful experience I’ve now visited three times. My visits have been for work, while filming for National Geographic, and this lodge has been an important partner in making our project successful. The location is gorgeous, in an oasis alongside a river. The tents are comfortable and clean. And most of all, the staff make you feel welcome and become friends. Bonface the manager ensures that you have everything you need, Jelly the guide is knowledgeable and adventurous, Lawrence & Gideon the wait staff are friendly and helpful. I even got a special nature tour from Hussain. This is just naming a few of the staff who make this lodge a home away from home in Samburu. Can’t wait to visit again!

Our stay at samburu intrepids was amazing we stayed for four nights and had the most fantastic time. Because we stayed longer we were treated to a candlelit bbq in the garden. Safari was great - seeing Lion Leopard and Cheetah - a real treat. The food was excellent every time. Many thanks to Dom for safari and Cleo for looking after us

Overlooking the Ewaso river, this hotel was a perfect start to our recent safari, having stayed there for 4 nights. The views from the open restaurant and lounge bar are superb, and would be even better with a full flowing river. All of the staff Boniface, Cleo, Annastashia, Maurice and really the whole team were very friendly and cheerful all the time. The tents are a decent size with very comfortable beds. However, there needs to be a phone or some form of communication means between the room and reception. There is none and it requires you to unzip the tent entrance etc to go back there if there is a need. Highly recommended hotel.

The road to the camp is well graded. The welcoming at the camp was awesome. The camp manager, Bonface and his team are very friendly and welcoming. The camp has a beautiful location with amazing views from the rooms as well. Loved the game drives especially driving in between elephant herds. The food is a 10/10. Special gratitude to Anastacia for excellent service at the restaurant.

Samburu Intrepids was the best camp we stayed at during our 10-day safari. Alfred ensured our tent was clean and well maintained. The wake up calls, where he brought coffee, tea, and cookies to our tent, were the best way to start the day. To conserve energy, power is cut during the night from midnight to 5am. We brought a battery powered fan to keep us cool during the night and it worked perfectly — we slept so well here! The dining experience was next level, each meal was different and delicious. Cleo and his team, especially Julius, were attentive to our needs and multiple times went above and beyond in planning surprises for us to make our trip more memorable. The nightly talks led by the camp’s naturalist, Steve, were incredibly informative. Steve has a great knowledge base and was happy to answer any questions we had. We were able to get some laundry done for a very reasonable price and a quick turnaround. They also have a great store with very reasonable prices and a wide selection. The camp doctor was also extremely kind and helpful. During our stay I experienced an allergic reaction (due to my own actions) and the doctor quickly provided me with an effective cream to help soothe my reaction. Overall it was a phenomenal experience, our only regret is that we had to leave. We look forward to returning as soon as we can.
