Today my wife and I had lunch at Kinloch Lodge, accompanied by our 3 year old child. Upon arrival we had a cocktail in the drawing room which is a stunning place to sit with a cosy log fire burning and ancestral pictures adorning the walls. This gave us a chance to have a look through the food and drink menus at our leisure. At the time of booking we were asked what our son would like for his lunch which I thought was very accommodating (we chose chicken and chips). The waiting staff kindly offered to ask the kitchen to get our sons food on first so that he wouldn’t be waiting for long at the table once we went through the the dining room, this was a very considerate offer which we gladly accepted. We chose to have one of each of the small plates (they recommend 3 or 4 per person) as they all sounded divine and showcased the incredible larder that Skye has to offer. Waiting staff were again very attentive in helping us choose wine to pair with the food and could answer all our questions about how the dishes were cooked and prepared. My son’s food arrived quickly which was a beautifully cooked breast of chicken with a generous helping of chips. He was then offered a custom made desert of ice cream with chocolate sauce. The kitchen staff were so accommodating and ensured he had a fantastic lunch without chucking out frozen party food for him. I’ve never been to a restaurant that looked after the needs of a toddler so well, they really went out their way to make sure he had a great time which in turn meant we had a great time! Our plates were stunningly presented and tasted even better. Version tacos, pork belly, fish cakes and a sun-dried tomato and burrata risotto were all favourites of mine, the Hispi cabbage was also phenomenal. All portions were generous and very reasonably priced given the quality of the food. Kinloch is by far the best dining experience we have had on Skye. It’s an incredible setting with excellent staff and some of the best food and drink I’ve ever had. A must visit establishment for any foodie. We will absolutely be back.

Our room at Kinloch was stifling hot but we coudn't open our windows because of the clouds of midges outside. The weather was unusually warm so we forgive them for this, although an offer of a fan would have been appreciated. The room itself had seen better days, with an old dripping shower in the bathroom. Our main disappointment was the restaurant which was ludicrously priced. The whole menu apparently changes daily. The dishes were hit and miss and nothing really came together very well. Perhaps focussing on a few dishes and perfecting them would improve the quality and customer experience. Management were absent during our stay, which maybe explained some of the issues we experienced.

What a remarkable find! Beautifully situated with gorgeous views. We had an extremely comfortable room, beautifully appointed in the guest lodge, but there are rooms in the main building. You'll have a fascinating time looking through the history of the MacDonald clan going way back in time -- with portraits and keepsakes through the property. Although I did see some mixed reviews on the cuisine, I cannot understand why. We had three incredible dinners, certainly at Michelin level. Creative and composed of locally sourced ingredients, dinner did not disappoint. Breakfasts were overwhelmingly sumptuous, with more than we could finish. We loved it and heartily recommend. We were roadtripping through the highlands and Hebrides for 12 days, and can easily put Kinloch at or near the top of our list. It would be such a romantic getaway

We booked two nights with great anticipation. . The hotel is beautifully situated and the hotel is comfortable and well maintained, with good staff. The food in the restaurant - again greatly looked forward to - and served by pleasant young serving sta ff is mediocre. Unimaginative use of limited and pinch-penny ingredients results in unenjoyable meals, showing little evidence of culinary skills. The overall impression is of trying to produce meals at minimum cost. Unforgiveable , given the price chmarged for thi establishment. A disappointment, to put it mildly, which meams that we would not re-visit or recommend the Hotel to any friends,.

The restaurant food was of a poor standard, and not worth the money. Our room was dated and would benefit from a makeover. Very disappointing and overpriced. We would not recommend the Kinloch Lodge to others.

My wife and I had a great stay at the Kinloch lodge. Beautiful views, the friendliest of staff, and delicious professionally prepared meals were just some of the highlights. Everyone made sure our stay was as comfortable and relaxing as possible. This was our first stop in Scotland and it definitely didn’t disappoint. We would return in a heartbeat.

The luxury experience we were looking forward to at Kinloch lodge never materialised. The view and location are superb but thats where it ended. Dinner was the low point of a disappointing overnight stay that cost us over £1100. Kinloch Lodge fell far short of our expectations.

Outstanding, and worth every special penny. We stupidly assumed you could not eat if not a resident - how wrong we were. The most spectacular and delicious lunch. Such a great warm welcome, and all homely and cosy on a March day. Would go back there in an instant, and stay if one could - highly recommend it all round.
