Unbelievable home brewed beers and gorgeous food. What really made our visit was the friendly staff. Can’t wait to come back to the area just to visit this place again! We will hopefully stay in the hotel when next we visit as the rooms looked lovely in line. Well done to the whole team! We loved it.

Last minute decision to have a night away on Isle of whithorn. Tracey made us feel welcome. The room and view was lovely across the bay. All we'll say is Islecroft is "Outstanding in every way". We hope to go back in the future. Micheal and Lyn.x

Basil Fawlty needs to buy his place & raise the standard. Such a stunning setting & good food but it’s obviously being run by children as some bizarre experiment! Very odd. Sad to see, as it was a favourite venue for us. I hope a new owner (it’s for sale) can inject some love into this inn & save it from its decline.

The hotel was well located with views across the harbour. Food was delicious but service was very slow, taking an hour between ordering and receiving main course. We felt almost ignored in the restaurant and breakfast choice very poor and slow again. Glad we were not in a hurry to get away in the morning. Customer service needs improvement

Another great lunch - we're local so have had 3 recent lunch visits. Lovely food, including fresh fish and Galloway beef, all perfectly cooked and served with fresh vegetables and good chips. Excellent Five Kingdom's beer, friendly service and one of the most beautiful settings possible.

Returned! This time calm sunny weather sat outside a few hours their own beer and local gin! Unfortunately no food Monday & Tuesday but we knew this. Great place to watch fisherman, swans, cows etc! Will return again of course. Stayed in the field at the back - leaving no trace!

My wife and I spent 3 nights here at The Steam Packet from Tuesday 22nd of October until Friday morning25th of October . The evening meals were good . However the state of the stair carpets and landing can only be described as disgusting , it was dirty and obviously hasn’t had the benefit of a visit from a hoover or similar. The house keeping in the bedrooms was quite clearly kept to a minimum , whoever did the “housekeeping” literally pulled the duvet up , without tidying the bed up or indeed the pillows. Used water glasses were not taken away and replaced or the empty water bottles taken away, nor did they replace the little milk cartons for our morning tea in our room. In addition our room felt dirty . I can only conclude that amateurs are certainly running the bed and breakfast side of the business. We visit family in the area and the Steam packet will not be a place for us to rest our head.

Very friendly staff, popular with locals & tourists & dog friendly in both the bar & restaurant. Excellent local ale “Private Idaho 7” brewed in the village at Five Kingdoms Brewery. Went in for a couple of drinks & ended up with the fish & chips as they looked amazing. They didn’t disappoint - gorgeous fresh white fish, light batter, perfect chips served with homemade lime & capor mayo & homemade ketchup. Would not hesitate in recommending or coming back here if we’re in the area again.
