Elephant In The Room

Stayed here a few times now in the centre of Kadikoy Friendly and really helpful staff.its above a 24hr bar but it's completely quiet. Rooms are clean and comfortable and it's only a few mins walk to the Metro, buses or ferries.

My stay at Elephant in the Room Hotel was extremely distressing and affected my health and mental well-being. While I was aware that I had booked a windowless room, I was not prepared for the hazardous and unhealthy conditions I encountered. The hotel is located in a building that was not a proper structure to begin with—it appears to have been converted from an abandoned building, and this irregular conversion left many issues unaddressed. The hotel does not have a proper entrance, lobby, or standard access points. Instead, guests must pass through a long, dust-filled tunnel to reach the rooms. This lack of a proper lobby, entrance, or staircase is not only inconvenient but also presents significant safety hazards. Such an environment, with no functional entrance or proper construction, should not be used as a place for people to stay. In fact, I believe this type of conversion may be legally questionable due to the potential safety violations involved. I have photos of the building to support my claims. IInside my room, the issues worsened. There was a strong, persistent sewage odor that never dissipated. The room was also poorly soundproofed, and I could feel the entire room shake every time a door was closed in the adjacent rooms. The air quality was poor, and the materials used triggered severe allergic reactions, including skin irritation and respiratory issues. These symptoms were so severe that I had to go to the emergency room at a local private hospital in Istanbul on February 13, 2025. The experience left me with lasting anxiety and a sense of insecurity. This hotel needs to address these critical issues—both health and safety related—in order to protect the well-being of future guests. 我在这个酒店的住宿不仅令人失望，而且严重影响了我的身心健康。尽管我知道我预订的是无窗房间，但我并没有预料到遭遇的极差和不安全的条件。 这家酒店所在的建筑本身就是一个非常不正常的结构，它似乎是从一座废弃的建筑改造而来。由于这种不规范的改造，很多问题没有得到解决。酒店没有正规的入口、大厅或标准的通道。客人必须穿过一条漫长、充满尘土的隧道才能到达房间。缺乏正常的入户门厅、走廊和楼梯不仅不方便，而且存在严重的安全隐患。如此不合格的环境、没有功能性入口和正规的建筑结构，根本不适合用作住宿场所。我认为这种改造可能存在法律上的问题，涉及潜在的安全违规行为。我有照片来支持我的说法。 在房间内，问题变得更加严重。房间内弥漫着强烈的下水道气味，这种气味始终没有消散。房间的隔音也非常差，每当邻近房间的门关闭时，我的房间都会震动。此外，空气质量差，使用的材料让我产生了严重的过敏反应，包括皮肤刺激和呼吸问题。这些症状严重到我不得不在2025年2月13日前往伊斯坦布尔的私人医院急诊科就医。 这次经历让我产生了深刻的焦虑和不安全感。希望酒店能够采取紧急措施，解决这些健康和安全隐患，保护未来客人的身心健康。

I paid in advance for 2 nights as I had to check in at 8am on the 2nd day. Considering my booking started the night before, I arrived at the hotel after a long flight, expecting to be able to check in immediately. It ticked me off that the hotel has not prepared my room when I arrived. I was informed to wait for an hour for them to clean. They first blamed me for not telling them that I was checking in late even though I've already paid for the night before 2 weeks in advance. They only apologized when my face started to show annoyance. Granted, they offered to transfer me to another hotel which is around 15min away, but I declined as it was older. While cleanliness passes the basic checks, the walls are very thin and I could hear a couple doing the deed very loudly (I can still remember the woman ******* like nobody's business and it disturbs me). Not suitable for families with children.

Staff very friendly! Close to a several dining options! Not so far from metro station.
