Kobonoyu Kona Honten

My legs were sore from hiking the longest route up Mount Fuji, Gotemba, on July 23rd, so I stayed at the Koho-no-Yu Kona Honten in Izu Nagaoka for three days on the 25th. After three days of enjoying the quiet and elegant hot springs and delicious food, I finally regained my strength 🙏 and successfully completed a day hike up the Subashiri-guchi route on the 31st. 🤗 Thank you 🙇♂️

Located in the heart of Kona, it's convenient for shopping, but lacks a scenic view. I carefully read reviews before deciding on a lodging, and I think Ikonaso offers a very attractive price. The only thing they offer is a luxurious seafood tea kaiseki meal. However, the basic plan is a semi-kaiseki course, which can be disappointing. Everything except the rice, including sashimi, is provided, so there are no freshly prepared, cold, or hot dishes. The taste isn't bad, but it's not memorable. The portions aren't small, either. The rice is freshly cooked and delicious. The waiter is a friendly man, so it's a bit difficult to approach, but he leaves a good impression. The breakfast is also good; the dried horse mackerel was a little warm. The menu is average, so I have no complaints. Ikonaso boasts 13 rooms, but they're very spacious and impressive. I only saw four employees, so they may be understaffed, but I was impressed by the generous selection of yukatas, ample towels, and complimentary coffee. Even the cheapest room has hot spring water, and the private and indoor baths are hot, but the water is free-flowing and has no chlorine smell. It's a shame there's no gender-segregated bathing system. My wife told me the women's room is larger. The facility is very large, but well-maintained and clean. The food is average, but the value for money is excellent. You can relax in peace and quiet and fully enjoy the Izu Nagaoka hot springs. There's a large hall and a fine dining area, making it suitable for couples, families, and groups. The price of just under 30,000 yen for two people on weekends is reasonable. I think the hotter waters would make a big difference in the cold season. If you're looking for a reasonably priced accommodation and aren't concerned with food, Ikonaso is a recommended choice.
