The Japanese garden is amazing. Our suite also had a private garden which was a nice touch. The interior design is very thoughtful, with glass used in several places to bring the outdoor garden scenery into the corridor. The place is huge and I got lost a few times trying to find the gardens.
There are two public hot springs, indoor and outdoor. The private hot spring water is very hot but can be adjusted by adding cold water.
Kaiseki cuisine is served in a public restaurant. The dishes are beautifully presented and the sashimi is fresh, but the grilled fish for breakfast and dinner is average, cold and not tender enough. A little disappointing compared to other ryokans we've been to.
