Hanlinyuan Hotel

I've always loved staying in Chinese garden hotels and have experienced many across different regions, but this one's environment is by far my favorite. The Pine Garden is the most beautiful, grand and elegant. With a clear blue sky and sunshine, it truly surpasses even the landscapes of Jiangnan. In the morning, the light streams through the windows facing the courtyard, filling the room with warmth. At night, the silhouettes of the pine trees resemble graceful Dai dances, which is quite charming. I had originally planned to visit a famous garden cafe outside the ancient city after checking in, but then I saw how much better the hotel's own backyard was—it was truly exceptional. So, I immediately went back to my room, grabbed my Zitao tea set, and brewed coffee and black tea under the Ligustrum trees. My family and I enjoyed the gentle breeze, listening to the rustling leaves and gurgling water, admiring the blooming magnolias and the swaying goldfish. This became the highlight of our slow-paced Jianshui trip. I also saw other guests reading on the traditional 'beauty's rest' benches and observing the fish pond with great interest. This, I thought, is what coming to Jianshui is all about—letting time slow down a bit. The room included a private small courtyard, a small living room that doubled as a tea room, a bedroom, and a very spacious bathroom. There were also Jianshui cultural books by Chen Lei's comic team, which you could finish in half an hour to learn about Jianshui. In the evening, we received welcome fruits, and the morning's caya rice noodles were as good as, if not better than, those from external vendors. The room was incredibly quiet at night—we were truly in the heart of the ancient city, yet just a wall away felt like a secluded paradise. The intangible cultural heritage performance directly opposite the hotel starts at 8:30 PM. It's high quality, great value for money, and definitely worth seeing. The hotel is also very close to the Confucius Temple.

The hotel's location and facilities are superb. It was truly delightful to spend a few days in such a charming, tranquil, and elegant hotel within the ancient city. The staff's attitude was also excellent, especially the lady who cooked noodles in the restaurant during breakfast. The food was delicious and her service was warm and enthusiastic. Thank you!

The facilities are very outdated. The shower drainage was terrible; I was practically standing in a pool of water during my shower, which was quite unpleasant (the photo was taken after my shower, so some water had already gone down). The hotel's ambiance is nice, which is probably its only redeeming quality. The breakfast was acceptable. However, I wouldn't stay here again unless they renovate.

My stay at Jianshui Hanlinyuan was absolutely fantastic. The hotel boasts a prime location in the heart of the ancient city, with attractions like Zhujia Garden and Xue Zheng Kao Peng just a short walk away. Its traditional Chinese garden design, complete with serene pavilions, quaint bridges, and flowing streams, creates a picturesque and breathtaking scene around every corner. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, featuring plush bedding that guarantees an excellent night's sleep. The service was incredibly thoughtful and attentive; complimentary fruit and light meals made us feel truly pampered and welcomed. The breakfast spread was generous, and the Jianshui specialty rice noodles were absolutely unforgettable. It's truly an ideal choice for a relaxing getaway.

This is a truly beautiful garden hotel. The rooms are spacious and spotlessly clean. Even though it's surrounded by lush trees and waterside pavilions, we weren't bothered by many mosquitoes, and you can even feed the fish. The rooms were excellent, and the surroundings were very peaceful. The service from the young staff was outstanding. The complimentary fruit was delicious; both the peaches and grapes were incredibly sweet. The buffet breakfast didn't offer a huge variety, but everything was delicious. The location is also fantastic, right on the old street, making it super convenient for dining and sightseeing. Xuecheng Kaopeng (Imperial Examination Hall) is right at the entrance, and attractions like Chaoyang Tower, Wenmiao (Confucian Temple), and Lin'an Prefecture Office are all just a 10-minute walk away. Overall, we were extremely satisfied with every aspect. Highly recommended – we'll definitely be back!

This garden-style hotel was absolutely delightful! The entire property felt like a beautiful scenic spot, with such stunning design that I just couldn't stop taking pictures. Our room was really spacious, the bedding incredibly comfortable, and most importantly, it was wonderfully quiet. It's truly perfect for a relaxing getaway. Waking up in the morning and having breakfast in the restaurant while admiring the rain outside was such a pleasant experience!
