The Harry Packer Mansion Inn

We had an amazing weekend at the Harry Packer Mansion!! The hotel is beautiful, historic and charming while also very comfortable with all the modern amenities. Maddie and Naomi made us feel at home from when we first arrived and throughout. And the ****** Mystery was a blast! The actors were so talented and their interactive / improv skills made the night so much more fun. We will be back soon!!

It’s not real intricate. The food is good. You only get one free drink. Beverages are about seven dollars each. It’s a simple plot. It’s a good time but I think $150 per person is steep. Took my son. He was never at one of these, so he felt like he had a really good time because he liked it because it was interactive. I had a good time because I was with him. The characters Were really into their roles and very interactive. I just felt like 75 or even $100 would’ve been more acceptable. I suppose they need the money to keep the mansion going. It’s a nice mansion. I have no complaints about it just that I thought the price was a little too steep for what you get.

My friend and I visited for the ****** mystery weekend. I have stayed at another Bed and Breakfast in Jim Thorpe so it’s hard not to compare. The room was what to be expected. Queen bed and a private bathroom. There was no mini fridge in the room, which was a bummer because we had leftovers that we had to pitch. There is no TV in the room which I wasn’t surprised about. They do have free Wi-Fi. The employees at the mansion are friendly and helpful. The mansion is on a hill, so if you are not active, I would not recommend staying here. The parking is tight, so do not bring a big vehicle. The mansion is well kept and clean. We enjoyed the covered porch, but the breakfasts are lacking. They were basic…quiche (tasted like store bought) potatoes, microwaveable sausage, and white toast, and a piece of cantaloupe with a couple of berries. We were really looking forward to the ****** mystery. In the description is said cocktail hour with hordeurves, dinner, and dessert with coffee. I was expecting open bar, but received a coin for one complimentary drink on a very limited menu. The hordeurves were decent, again frozen meatballs, cold shrimp, fruits and veggies. The dinner was a buffet. Fish (can’t review bc I don’t eat fish), chicken which was delicious, green beans, and pasta and roll. There were no other drinks besides water unless you wanted to pay for them. The ****** mystery was fun and entertaining. We were in two rooms so when the actor was talking in the other room, he could not hear him because the air conditioning was so loud. For dessert, they served those shells you get in the supermarket next to the strawberries, along with some berries and canned whipped cream. That was it Sunday mornings breakfast was banana pancakes that didn’t look like pancakes, quiche again that looks store-bought, potatoes, and fruit. I was expecting much more for me to bed-and-breakfast, considering you go to a bed-and-breakfast for a nice homemade breakfast. If they could improve on the breakfast, I would go back to.

There are very few places that had excellent service that I had experienced here! The staff went above and beyond to make your stay perfect. Polite, patient, informative, professional, accommodating, pleasant, genuine, assistant, the list for me goes on and on! This was the best weekend get away I had in many, many years! Worth every penny! Location is perfect! I sat on the veranda every day for breakfast and every evening with a drink reading or just watching the town below. I strongly recommend this Inn with all it’s qualities to everyone!
