For a first timer in Gambia, this was definitely the perfect hotel. Upon arriving, I was shown to my Bungalow room-dated, but adequate-where the guy apologised for the sound of the waves. Yes, I was on the front and in the morning, just WOW, I was literally 1 meter from the beach. A lovely start to the holiday. Is it paradise? No, but it's pretty awesome. Loved this hotel as it wasn't huge and apart from the odd day, no kids 😁 It's perfectly placed, about half way to the Monkey Park in one direction-also the main strip-and Cape Point in the other, which is near Crocadile Park. Also, for bird watchers, just outside/to the side, is a known creek-which is one of the stops on most bird watching tours. The food was much better than expected, to be honest. Breakfast good n lunch was freshly cooked-the chef was new and he definitely impressed. For the evening meal, I must admit, I didn't have many as I eat really late, but the odd ones I went to, they were fine. Reet, entertainment-the evening ones which I saw were great-though I only went to a couple. A lot were, I think, Local Tribes, and they were fab and fascinating-very impressive, some of them. Yes, they go round after with the tip box-awkward at first, but it's the Gambian way. Day entertainment-meh is all I've got to say. They sat down on their phones and didn't create the buzz you'd normally expect from 'The Animation Team'. Nice enough, but it could be much better. Onto drink-pretty good. Had all the usual , and even though the tour operator had emailed to say Diet Coke was in short supply, it was served, no problem. The wine was nice , and things like milkshakes were ace. The pool was really nice and adequate as the hotel wasn't too full. Had a few nice swims in there. The beach-and I love the beach-was really nice-though it was almost spoiled by being mithering. You have to be firm and, unfortunately, sometimes harsh. Though I must admit the security guys were fab and made the experience much better. Overall, I loved this hotel and will miss that Sea Front room. I'd definitely recommend this hotel-though it has gone up by a grand for the same holiday next year, so won't be returning until it's back to within my budget.

Loved the location of this hotel right on the beach and listening to the sea from our room. All the staff are extremely friendly and nothing is too much trouble. Enjoyed trying the Gambian food served in the restaurant. Bar staff were amazing and took time to have a chat as did the entertainment staff. Yes the rooms are basic but still clean so nothing to complain about. Would love to come back and spend time chilling out in the sunshine. This hotel is all about relaxation.

I enjoyed my stay at the Sunbeach hotel, I am already planning to go back. The receptionist, the bar and kichen staff were warmly welcoming and they always have a smile whilst catering to our wants, needs and demands. I would advice any potential visitor to Gambia to give them your stay oh did I forget to say the food was yum yum tasty indeed.

The staff are the best ever, willing to cater to your every need. They are friendly, supportive and are always smiling, even when they are faced with difficult challenges. They are the best. From the Reception Desk (Mousa), to the Porters, the Chefs (Chef Lamin and the rest of the team) in the kitchen, Bar staff (Rashida & Arouna), Housekeepers (Mohammed) - they are second to none and always go above and beyond. I became unwell halfway through my stay at the hotel and they catered to my every wish. Making me special meals to help me on my recovery - I cannot thank them enough.

FIRST OF ALL...take a continental travel adapter....the sockets are not all UK type. Otherwise, this place is GREAT for R&R. The standard rooms are VERY basic but very clean, have an abundance of hot water and the beds were comfortable. The staff are AMAZING Top man Lamin the Chef cooks fantastic dishes, catering for both the adventurous and less so) Wait staff Aruna, Lamin, Mariama and Cristina are fab (so was everyone else but names not noted) Owa and Abi in the spa were just lovely as was the Egyptian manager. Milton and Richard (entertainment) were very helpful (again the young lady was too but I didn't get her name) John The Baptist and Yankz (?) the pool guys were very helpful (no shortage of sunbeds) and even the security team deserves a mention. Ricki on customer liaison sorted the one problem we ladies had, quickly and efficiently. Momadou, the housekeeper and colleagues and the gardeners do a top job. Pieter the TUI rep was so helpful when we had to re arrange an excursion. The hotel is set on the beach, within a short walk to the creek where we took a boat ride to watch the amazing birds. Just loved it here and hope to return soon. Top Job, Sunset Beach Hotel.

Just got back from a week with my sisters. The most accommodating staff across the board. Friendly and always smiling. Great location although we don’t manage to get to the ‘*****’ we did go on a couple of excursions. We had bungalows on the seafront. Just lovely although, same as most other reviews - rooms (bathrooms) need regrouting, loo roll holder hanging on for its life! The bar area needs a lick of paint!! Overall, a great place. We will be back.

Hotel is small but set in beautiful gardens. Staff are friendly and go out of their way to try and please you. The rooms are very dated but clean and more than adequate. The day time entertainment consists of pool aqua gym, beach volley ball, pool basket ball apart from that no much else. The night entertainment is mainly local traditional drums which is extremely noisy and very very repetitive, a few night a week there is a local band and with singers. The quality of food is good however the choice is very poor and again repetitive. Service at the bar is very very slow all day every day. If this hotel ever gets full it would not cope.
