Hotels in E-Da World/Fo Guang Shan, Kaohsiung

Never been to this area. Went only for the E-da theme park, which was honestly speaking quite small. Not spectacular. 1. Ordered hotel ahead. So, didn’t have the chance to check out the environment. After arriving, we found out that the Royal E-da hotel had a lot more amenities, I.e. pool, jacuzzi, arcade room etc. Back to this skylark hotel. 1. Room was alright, staff were very helpful, was upgraded to the three bed instead of the 2 bed. 2. Cleanliness was alright, didn’t like the 3in1 coffee though. 3. Gym was really big with very limited equipment, or broken equipment which opens at 8am, which wasn’t pleasing for those who have a long day ahead and exercise in the early hours. 4. Breakfast area was really big, vast food selection, but the food was a bit substandard. 5. Went during ***** new year, so there was a lion dance, which was alright. Don’t really plan on coming back to this area, but would definitely recommend the royal e-da, though the rate is 20% more

I asked about a late checkout, and they told me I’d have to pay MORE than my original room rate just to stay 4 hrs longer… like what?? 😅 My flight was in the evening, so I only asked until 1 PM and was totally willing to pay a reasonable extra fee. But the price they quoted was way too wild, so I just said nvm. Not sure if it’s bc I’m a foreigner or just their hotel policy, but FYI for anyone planning to stay here. Basic amenities like a toothbrush and toothpaste weren’t provided unless you asked, which was kinda a hassle tbh. Taxis are pretty easy to get, but the hotel is a bit far from the main areas, so transportation isn’t super convenient and costs can add up. Most of the staff don’t really speak English, so you’ll prob need a translator app. As for friendliness… hmm idk lol. It’s also not very easy to get to a nearby convenience store. Price-wise it’s ok for what it is, but I’d have to think twice about staying here again.

Staying at the King's Town Hotel for my trip to Kaohsiung was an excellent choice; it's a fantastic older four-star hotel, and I was very satisfied! Hope to see you again next time! Service: The front desk service was excellent. They offer free luggage storage both before check-in if you arrive early and after check-out. The service was very enthusiastic, and the room was cleaned daily. The breakfast was also very good and delicious. Cleanliness: The hotel was clean and tidy. They provide room tidying service, which is very thoughtful. It was very clean. Environment: The hotel's location is great, directly opposite Kaohsiung Station, just a five-minute walk away. There are also many delicious food spots nearby worth checking out. It's very convenient for taking the train and MRT. Facilities: The facilities are classic but very comprehensive. The bed was extremely comfortable. The older rooms have traditional keys for entry, which is quite unique. The elevator was under maintenance when I arrived, but it was already fixed by the time I checked in after dinner.

The location is great, right in front of the main Kaohsiung Station. The staff are very friendly and hospitable. Also there's a Ubike parking right next. The room is spacious. That's the upsides. The downsides are many and mostly have to go with the hotel age and the state of repair. It seems the management has given up, or is trying to squeeze the living life out of the place. The interior is decrepit, worn, moldy in places, and hasn't been properly renovated in years. Many things are broken or do not work properly. The beds are very hard. The window noise insulation no longer works properly, there's lots of traffic noise, despite the double glazing. The appliances are very old. I paid about 1500 per night. It's a bit much for such a place.

The hotel is very well located, right outside Kaohsiung Station with easy access to the MRT. The super deluxe room is spacious, but the bathroom could really use a renovation. Breakfast is just okay, nothing special. There's a self-service laundry room with washing machines, but you have to pay for the dryer, and only with 10 TWD coins, which is really inconvenient if you don't have exact change. Finally, the reception service is non-existent. You check yourself out at a kiosk, and no one asks if you had a good stay or even says goodbye when you leave. It's fine for one night, but not for a long stay.

Overall from check in to check out my time here at Papo’a was smooth. The room is clean and all have electronic door locks so no need for room keys. Shower was slightly weird design as no shower curtain or partition so the rest of toilet would be wet - otherwise was a pleasant stay!

I would give this hotel 100 out of 10! The stay was truly excellent, offering great value for money and wonderful service throughout. I really appreciated the complimentary snacks provided during the stay, and the hotel also offers free laundry service, which was a very nice bonus (even though I personally missed the chance to use it). The room itself was not very large, but it was well arranged with two queen beds. The hotel also provided four bottles of water and four sets of amenities, even though the room was for two guests and I stayed alone. The bed was extremely soft and comfortable, making it easy to sleep well. The staff were all very friendly, professional, and able to communicate clearly. Whenever I asked for recommendations or assistance, they provided useful and thoughtful suggestions. Breakfast was delicious with a good variety of options. Guests can also enjoy complimentary snacks and ice cream downstairs during the stay. Overall, this hotel exceeded my expectations, and I would definitely recommend it.

Our room is on the 10th floor and it is big. Air Conditioner is working well, room is cool.  Laundry on the 7th floor, very convenient.  Bathroom is clean. Only draw back is when taking shower, the water flows out from the inside edge of the tub and the back wall edge and onto the floor, making the floor super wet.  

The air in the room was absolutely terrible, probably due to a persistent smoky smell. After I reported it to the staff, they used an ozone treatment, but it only improved a tiny bit; ironically, the hallway air was better than inside the room. After checking out, I realized that all my clothes, even those in my suitcase, had picked up the room's odor, which was super unpleasant. I booked this place because of a great experience at the Xiongzhou branch before, but this one was a huge disappointment. It's definitely on my never-return list.
