The Mora Zanzibar

This hotel is a mixed bag. Let me start with the areas that need improvement: 1/ The front desk had a bad attitude and no sense of service. The sea view room I booked was arranged on the first floor with no view. The communication with the front desk was fruitless and I encountered a strong argument. They claimed that the price of this room type was the same as the one I booked. When the sun shines through the gap, it is possible to see a "first-line" view. After complaining by email in the middle of the night, I was able to upgrade to a new room the next day. When I checked in, there was no need for briefing except throwing a room card. I even downloaded the hotel service app from XHS and didn't know what number to dial to call the front desk! 2/ The hotel does not have hotel limo. If you need to travel, you need to find a taxi by yourself. 3/ The hotel has 4 restaurants, but the barbecue and Asian restaurants cannot be booked using the hotel app. I can only ask the customer relationship manager for help to book them. The good aspects are as follows: 1/ The hotel is in a unique location with a beautiful beach. 2/ The hotel implements an all-inclusive price. The food in each restaurant is rich, the product is good, the service attitude is good, and the bar and dessert house are also very convenient. The restaurant's business hours are also reasonably arranged. 3/High cost performance. The hotel has just turned one year old and is currently undergoing the second phase of construction. It is quite popular. 4/After a written real-name email complaint, a person in charge followed up and handled it. 5/There are many water activities, such as chasing dolphins, feeding turtles, picking up starfish, and the sunset on the sea is not far away, which is convenient to arrange.

Clean and tidy, the restaurant has rich dishes

It's quite far from the airport, but once you get in, it's like a paradise. The hotel is very big. I didn't experience the smell in the room. There are many restaurants, all of which are delicious, with all kinds of regional cuisines. It's too fat to lie down every day after eating and drinking.

I would not recommend this hotel to anyone, even though it was my first time in Zanzibar. The only two highlights are that in addition to breakfast, the buffet changes every day, the grilled food is very good, and there is a large garden + low-density housing. There are countless disadvantages, including but not limited to: The door of the room suddenly couldn't be opened, and it took from 6pm to 9pm to be completely opened. There are many big snails and various reptiles on the terrace of the room. The clothes in the room are not easy to dry. If you dry them outside the next day, you will find a big snail lying on your underwear, wrapped in mucus circles... If you give up this terrace, it may not have much impact, but if you bite the bullet and try, it will be a disaster. There are also a lot of bees and flies in the buffet restaurant in the morning. You have to wave your fork to drive them away while eating... In addition to the buffet restaurant, other restaurants in the hotel need to be booked in advance on the app. Try to make all the subsequent meals on the day of your arrival, otherwise you will probably have to eat buffet every day. The hotel's pool towels are very scarce. Normally, it closes at 6:30, but there are no clean towels at 5 o'clock. At this time, the sun is about to set and there is a little wind, so you can't swim in the hotel pool if you want to go out in the afternoon... By the way, this hotel only has a private beach, and the sand is very fine, like flour. You can find a lot of big crabs when you go out at 8 or 9 o'clock in the evening. I don't know if this is unique to this hotel or it is the same in Zanzibar. The beach closest to the hotel is full of private small wooden boats with engines installed by local soliciting customers. If you insist on walking a little further to bypass them and swim in the sea, you will find a smell of motor oil in the sea water when you occasionally choke on the water... When you see the small wooden boats, you will think that Africa is relatively backward, so just bear with the poor conditions. But when you take a taxi to Nungwi Beach to cruise and watch the sunset, you will find why speedboats and two-story yachts on the beach are not uncommon? Finally, if you plan to come to Zanzibar, try not to choose a hotel like the mora, which is isolated. There is no village or other hotels nearby. You can only make an appointment for a taxi in advance through WhatsApp, because it is difficult for taxis to come in...
