Royal Exchange Hotel

What can I say? Mixed thoughts here. 1. We were initially offered an upgrade to a room that didn't have a working fan and no air-con in room. On a 38 degree day. So we passed. 2. The room we went into did have air-con (yeah) but the TV did not work. 3. Later on, all power went off. Apparently a power point in the men's bathroom exploded. ***??!! But power was restored after 5 minutes. This is clearly an older motel and I would suggest a bit more effort needs to be put into cleanliness and maintenance. Lots of little issues I could note - broken glass in windows, dirty windows, cobwebs, etc. Positives - friendly staff who did all they could to make our stay enjoyable; AND nice enough bar on premises. But really, if I went to Katanning again, I would probably stay at the Premier Mill Hotel.

We stopped by for dinner, the pub is old but clean, staff were really friendly. The food was amazing. I have never had garlic bread as good. My wife ordered the ribs, which just melted in your mouth, I tried some, and I ordered the meat lovers pizza. The pizza was very delicious, and if I had to find a fault, I’d say there was too much topping as it filled me up too much and I had to leave some. All in all, we found the whole town of Katanning very friendly and well located in the region for day trips. We stayed at the premier mill hotel which is worth another entire 5 star review on its own along with the cordial bar in the basement.
