Glendale Guest House

Nice cosy bedroom, nice breakfast. A place well located, 10mn walk to the centre of Keswick. Great.

It was quite a nice stay at Glendale GH. We stayed for two nights. The GH is couple of minutes away from the High Street by walk. A lot of restaurants there. Rooms were well appointed, good shower, tea-coffee making facilities. Host Barry was friendly. As we were vegetarians (no egg), he went to market to get some egg-less nougat for breakfast. The breakfast was served with personal care and attention by Barry and his wife. There were cereals, fruits, bread toast, baked beans, baked potatoes and tomatoes etc. available. For us they got hot milk to mix with tea and cereals. My wife really enjoyed the breakfast there for two days and it was filling and energetic for the activities of the first half of the day! Only thing we didn’t like was the bed. Though double, it was comparatively small. In short the hospitality was excellent and the stay comfortable.

From the minute we pulled up to the minute we left, couldn't fault a single thing. Lovely welcome on arrival, showed to a fantastic room and breakfast arrangements explained. Room was more than adequate with a really comfortable bed, good shower and tea/coffee facilities at hand,and breakfast was amazing, with really good selection and quality produce. Host couldnt do enough for you, even when he was flying solo on this particular weekend. Great location and close to town but just far enough out not to get any noise( 2- 3 mins walk). Managed to get a parking space in the street opposite, so car never moved all weekend. Wouldn't hesitate to stay again when next up there. Thanks for a great stay Noel & Lisa (Room 3)

We stayed here for 5 nights in July 2023 in room 5 which was-a small double room.I had contacted the owner directly to enquire and he told me because I spoke directly and not through an agent the cost was £90 a night. Barrie phoned me before we were going to ask about our e mail address which was wrong so I gave him it again. We still did not receive it so I messaged the e mail address to him by text . On checking out we were told he did not take card if possible, he would rather cash or cheque. We were charged £500.00 which was £25 for using the card and no reduction for booking directly. He kept telling us this was all in the emails which have still not appeared.

The setting was lovely with a small well-kept garden. There was a security bell in place. Claire and Barry were very welcoming and friendly. The room was pleasing, comfy and well equipped for a B and B. Barry was particularly helpful in recommending a good nearby restaurant and very chatty. We had a restful night and a fantastic breakfast. The breakfast room was light and airy with a fair selection on offer. Claire and Barry were very accommodating. I would certainly recommend them for a lovely stay in Keswick. Thank you kindly both for looking after us so well.

Booked two single rooms for two nights. Rooms were very small but had en-suite shower room, TV, kettle and very clean and tidy and a comfortable bed. Full English Breakfast was one of the best I have ever had - everything cooked to perfection!
