This was our least pleasant lodging in a month in Tanzania. There were hardly any other guests, and I can see why. We all know that you can't take websites at full face value, but when you make specific claims you should be able to back them up. The website says, "Standby generator. You can relax in the knowledge that we will have electricity supply 24/7." Ummm, no. Power went out repeatedly. The website boasts about their on-site bakery. The rolls were average, and dessert at every single meal was a small plate of fruit. If they really have a bakery, they should bake something for dessert. The pictures of the pool area bear almost no resemblance to reality. It was the worst pool we saw in Tanzania. The water was opaque and green, and the area around the pool was ramshackle. I will say that the grounds are nice (if confusingly laid out), and get visited by monkeys.

It was fun to be back in wilds for a night. The Lodge is not far from the main Kilombero road on the edge of the Udzungwa NP. Our largish group was warmly welcomed and we soon found our rooms along little paths with dense vegetation everywhere. While I explored my room I noticed a few red faced colobus in the trees, close to the terrace. The bed was large and hard with a mosquito net. There was lots of hot water. The main hassle was that the electic plugs didn't work. I was too tired after a long day on the road and at meetings to be bothered to change room. Dinner was a disappointment too, as the service was very sloooow. However the food - standard fare with chicken and chips, and al ittle salad - was quite good and breakfast was healthy with toast, fruit, good coffee, etc. I guess the price was reasonable; we were given a discount as conservationists! Would I return for a serious safari? Not sure...

Lage quasi im Regenwald. Vom Balkon Zimmer Nr 01 haben wir am Nachmittag vom Balkon aus nächster Nähe eine Familie Rotschopfstummelaffen beobachten können. Die Zimmer sind top. Der Poolbereich sehr geschmackvoll gestaltet. Die ganze Anlage fügt sich wunderbar in den sie umgebenden Regenwald. Das Hotelteam ist sehr jung (Hotelfachschule?!), ist nicht perfekt, gibt sich aber sehr viel Mühe. Am Nachmittag kommen junge Einheimische (?) bzw. Leute aus der Umgebung an den Pool, da ist dann ein wenig Party. Die Wanderungen im Regenwald lohnen sich. Das Dorf sollte man auch mal besichtigen, es gibt dort etliche Läden und Stände. Sehr interessant. Die Zimmerpreise sind allerdings recht hoch. Leider gab es zum Frühstück trotz Nachfrage weder Juice noch Früchte. Das haben sie hier in der Küche noch nicht auf dem Schirm. Der Kaffee war auch nicht so toll. Fazit: Diesen afrikanischen Luxus haben wir uns mal geleistet. Trotz Kritik: Lohnenswert.
