This lovely setting, which is a joy to behold, has a dark secret or two. First, and it's still a secret, that after waiting 40 minutes for our food, the 'chef' came and apologised for the delay and warned of a further 20 minutes delay. That turned into 35 minutes. The secret is, why, when there were only 6 other people in the entire restaurant??? Worse still, the food was simply awful. There is no other way to describe it, or try to be kind to it. It was simply dreadful. We had dry, overcooked burgers that probably had never seen salt nor pepper, let alone any other herb, spice or flavouring to help it onto a plate. Bland, would be kind. The unfortunate roll in which it came, was a cheap supermarket version that stuck to the roof of your mouth. The 'hand cut' chips were not in the least crispy, but dry and tasted like cardboard. To accompany this disaster, was another! Red cabbage (only!) 'coleslaw' that had more vinegar than mayo. In 50 years of eating out, I can honestly state this was probably the worse meal I've ever had. I didn't pay for my meal and should not have paid for anything else either, but we were with friends and it was bad enough without making further, albeit well deserved fuss! Back in the 70's, Britain had a terrible reputation around the world for the quality of food available when eating out. It was like going back in time! NEVER again shall I visit this place!
